I just fitted some H&R springs and was surprised to see that as that car is stationary, 3 spring coils are bunched together.

Car is mainly road use (fast road, no track), so want something that’s well controlled but not overly harsh on UK roads.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking at refreshing the suspension on my 996 Targa currently on B4s with ~30mm lowering springs) and deciding between: Bilstein B8 + springs H&R Cup Kit (30mm) Leaning towards the H&R as a complete matched setup, but struggling to find much real-world feedback on it for the 996. Car is mainly road use (fast road, no track), so want something that’s well controlled but not overly harsh on UK roads. Has anyone here run the H&R Cup Kit on a 996? How does it ride vs B8? Any regrets or things to watch out for? Appreciate any thoughts Dedicated to your Porsche needs Design 911 supply car parts, spares and accessories, to both retail and to the trade. Cannot help I'm afraid, but as a fellow targa owner, I wondered if you have some pics of yours that you would not mind sharing? As it sounds like you have down some really interesting mods (Fuchs wheels, ducktail etc.)

POST 3Original post

Having used HR springs on other Porsche, albeit with the standard shocks, I would not recommend this approach. Very low and lots of bump stop action. That said, I didn't use their shocks but I believe that the springs use a few 'lazy' coils to achieve the drop. This leaves the remainder of the spring only at around the standard spring rate, hence the bump stops were recruited too often. The 30mm aesthetics are aggressive and some do enjoy this. A handing upgrade, it was not, although it wasn't worse either overall. On the same Porsche I later put the factory X73 kit and that was the handling upgrade I was after, plus a smaller drop. It also provided stiffer roll bars and was amazing on track.

POST 7Original post

Hiya, funny enough this is where I was in 2024. Was toying between both sets for pretty much the same reasons as yourself. I went with the h&r cup kit initially as the lead time on b8’s were too long at the time (fronts were on a very long back order…) So went ahead with h&r cup kit and h&r arbs. Waited over a month for them to arrive only to open the box and find h&r springs with koni shocks!! Contacted the supplier explaining the situation, they got in touch with h&r as they came direct from them and koni supply the shocks they are just a good match apparently, i wasn’t happy at all so sent it all back (nothing against koni at all but I felt I was missing sold something) So please bear this in mind that h&r do not make them in house. Then I went for b8’s/h&r springs which after 4 months of waiting for the stock to arrive I finally gave up, cancelled the order and got my money back. Be very careful with some online retailers, make sure and phone them before you place an order to make sure they are in stock as you will just get continuously mugged off with changeable stock status update emails, utter rubbish. I hope this helps you. In the end I went for bilstein pss10 coilovers and h&r arbs which I am extremely happy with. All the best with it. I would recommend larkspeed as an online retailer their service was excellent. So maybe worth checking them out over other online retailers.

stick with the B4's you will find the B8 to be too harsh and pass on the H&R cup kit, that will shake the life out of the roof B4, new set of Eibach Springs but run upgraded Anti Roll Bars for the body control and then fit 7m front and 15mm rear spacers Far more cost effective and you'll get a better balance

That is interesting you say that. I just fitted some H&R springs and was surprised to see that as that car is stationary, 3 spring coils are bunched together. Seems odd, like they’re just along for the ride.. I guess they might help extend when the car goes over crests though
