Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Having bit the bullet and had my 5HP19 auto box fully rebuilt and got it back into the car only to find that I have the flashing 4 and D or N or R or P. had a new selector position indicator fitted to side of box still flashing ! Cannot get any faults showing Has anyone got a starting place as I don’t want to have the box removed unless it is absolutely necessary HELP!

I’ve a second gearbox that we swapped over (cannot guarantee 100% good but told recon 4 years ago) but shows exactly the same fault d & 4 flash on start up does that shed any clues? Or is that just coincidence?

Any updates? I sent mine off to be rebuilt by a reputable shop, got it back, didn't work correctly. Repeat with same results. Sent off valve body only, swapped with another one, and it worked a lot better but still diving into limp mode after it warms up past 100 F (roughly).

You tried driving a few minutes as the box and abs are linked it sometimes needs to see wheel speed to clear, check abs connectors as well as they fail with age Also the connector to the gear box can get oil in it

POST 8Original post

This might sound like an obvious question, but presumably the people that rebuilt it and fitted it know what they're doing, so what do they think might be wrong?

I've checked the connector several times, but can try cleaning it again. I am having trouble with my brake switch which turns off abs. The "a" circuit isn't working but the brake light is. I've replaced the switch several times. I'm thinking broken wire for that but haven't found it. Thanks!

They are befuddled as well. They've asked me to collect live data from the TCU, which is my next step. The 2001 TipTronic isn't overly advanced or verbose in such data. But, I have several methods to collect it including a PIWIS 3 clone, an Autel M905, a Durametric enthusiast version, etc.

POST 11Original post

I had the same problem after doing a Tiptronic seal, and filter change. Turned out to be an abs sensor down and residual tans fluid in the connector

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 2797893

I'm going to chase down that ABS / brake switch problem. The connector seemed fine. It had dielectric grease, but that shouldn't hurt anything.

POST 13Original post

I have just had a tip filter and seal done and am getting weird flashing lights. What exactly were your symptoms? Mines flashing R when in park. When in D it shows D and R.
