Thats a cool touch, i always have my phone in a holder to use google maps anyway so having that easily visible would be great.

So ive been building an app called TrackPulse for iOS, just finished the implementation and testing Takes 30mins to install and will come with a loom. Very very easy to do just need a torx bit and a pick. Will be able to set alerts based on the temp and be able to see it in car play it required. Oil Temp & Coolant Temp is what ive been running for the past week. Im hoping to get 996.1 sorted at a later stage

I've seen a lot of people say that the oil temp cannot be communicated via the OBD, is that correct? I was checking some things on my .2 with my icarsoft diagnostics device and that can pick up oil temp from the OBD port.

Becuase the 996 is old it doesnt communicate like newer cars. They use k-line and that uses some specific connection/comms. So it is available over OBD IF you have the right comms. I am getting it from CAN at the moment but looking at revising it for K-Line in the next few months
