Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I have downloaded various VMs I think PIWIS II and PIWIS 3 which I understand need to have some config work done to reset the license.

I have BMW's and having the official diags (ISTA & NCS) has been incredibly valuable over the years so hoping I can get similar up and running for the 996.

They do work, I have and use basically the same as the one I linked.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I asked my local Porsche Centre for a quote to code the dashboard to display the computer data (stalk wiring is already installed.
£420 plus VAT. For some standard coding. They claimed 2 hours labour.
Am i right to be outragred by this?
You don't need the latest kit, just the kit they used at the time and anything newer. I'd be bunging a Technician £30 on a Saturday morning to ping it on for me.......or find someone with a PIWIS / Durametric.
I'm in Bath ... nearest Indie is Porschemode in Bristol. They seem like good guys, so I'll give them a call.
I have a Foxwell 710, but unfortunately it can't code this.
I was in at an OPC last week to get cruise control retrofitted on a 991. I’d negotiated it down from £670 to £550. Whilst I was in there I gave them a set of PIWIS instructions to code in the rain sensitive wipers (they all have the sensor but aren’t coded if the original buyer didn’t tick the option). I told them it was a 3 or 4 minute job and I didn’t want charging. They obliged. No charge!
PIWIS does have a coding section, it's worth having it in any case

Search for PDK pirates, not sure if allowed to link.
OPC Tewkesbury which is Dick Lovetts charged me £75 inc VAT to active cruise control a few years ago.. Which was cheaper than I had been quoted by a local Porsche independent called PMR.. They quoted £175 which considering its just ticking a box to active is almost as outrageous as an OPC quoting you £420
I ordered one of these a few months back and have it sitting in its box waiting to play. I have downloaded various VMs I think PIWIS II and PIWIS 3 which I understand need to have some config work done to reset the license. Look forward to trying to get it to work. I have BMW's and having the official diags (ISTA & NCS) has been incredibly valuable over the years so hoping I can get similar up and running for the 996. Will have a look at PDK pirates, see if that is one of the VMs I have or something else.
