I use AG Magma for cleaning my wheels which says its PH neutral.

Doesn't seem to be any damage to the finish and no signs of peeling or water getting in so hoping there is a way to clean/polish back to the original finish?

Suggestion

try some "mothers" or autosol - then once done coat them with a really good wheel sealant like gtechniq and dont use wheel acid on them - a decent pH neutral wheel cleaner would be "dish soap" by dodo juice.
