Suggestion

I am going to contact them as I have been looking for a factory type upgrade for my 993 in classic grey, and this maybe it as I cannot find a nice example of used stock Graphite grey wheel to try on my car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just wanted to post about this since I couldn't find a ton of info when I was searching to do this originally, only pictures of what DCTMS had posted. Anyways, thought I'd give a shout out to just how great the work on re-doing my OEM steering wheel went with DCTMS. My car has 102k miles on it, and the interior is actually in great shape, but the steering wheel was a little worn. Professionally cleaning it, using leather conditioner, etc. wasn't enough as the actual color had started to wear away. I had put in one of my sparco racing wheels thinking I'd love how that'd look but it was a bit too small and blocked the view of my gauges, as well as just feeling a bit too racey for what I was aiming for. I want the car to be a comfortable but sporty GT. Coming from owning cars like full on race-ready rally cars (1991 legacy turbo, RIP after a massive racing wreck), to hardcore sport cars like a supercharged Lotus Elise, the 996 911 is the perfect blend of comfortable cruiser, yet sporty. I hated every single aftermarket option, and in my personal opinion hated all the crazy over-the-top custom wheels with CF, deviated stitching, etc. I just wanted something that looked OEM and felt like a newer car. So I reached out to DCTMS about having my steering wheel rewrapped in the OEM style, but with a single small leather stripe at the top like a proper race wheel, or the new GT style leather steering wheels in the 991 and 992. I was kind of worried the Graphite Grey leather wouldn't match perfectly, but went ahead with it. I also added an extra 1mm padding to get a small amount of girth. Total cost is $450 with the extra customization. Straight stock swap is $399. Just got the wheel in about 4 weeks after payment was sent, and wow, what a beautiful piece. The craftsmanship is amazing and worth every penny. I've attached a bunch of pictures comparing my old worn wheel to the brand new one. I saw a lot of pictures of before-and-after, or just after's, but nothing side by side. I'm amazed at what a transformation it does for the car. Despite the same wheel size, and literally nothing else, the car feels far newer, and the steering wheel does feel almost identical to the GT style wheel I was driving when I was in a 992 at Road America a few weeks ago. I was getting a hankering for a 991.2 or a 992 after driving the new car in anger on the track, but now after this steering wheel upgrade getting closer and closer to wondering if I ever will need a different car, except of course maybe a McLaren. :P All in all, extremely positive experience, and would highly recomend this for anyone with a worn out wheel that wants to breathe new life into their car without having to have some weird looking aftermarket steering wheel. New DCTMS on the left, 100k mile OEM on the right Up-close of how worn the OEM steering wheel was despite professional attempts to clean, compared to new. Beautifully done leather stripe. Blends in perfectly with the OEM interior, looks stock, feels stock, but much better. The phone holder is a custom design that I am tweaking. Wireless charging and bluetooth on the CDR220 means can use navigation perfectly without having to look at my phone in the passenger seat, or a bulky dashboard/windshield mount. Detail of the OEM grade stitching on the back. I was very impressed with this. More details on the stitching http://www.dctms.com/Products.html Can shoot Ivan an email, he's great a responding quickly! [email removed]

Now you need him to recover your airbag like OEM for another $300. It makes a big difference.
