I have been told that some 17" won't clear the brakes on the C4S so test fitting prior to buying would be key.

I need to build a set of winter wheels / tires. Up here in MT we have a lot of road debris so the more side-wall the better. Can I fit 17" wheels on my stock 4S?

Read the label inside the gas cap door. It will state the tire sizes available for your 4S. C2 models came with 17" or 18" wheels, not sure about C4 models. If 17" wheel are not listed it may be that they do not clear the calipers.

I put 17" Braid Fullrace As on my '03 996 C4S. No issues. Paul at Team Illuminata lined me out on them.
