Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Apologies for another RMS etc related thread, but... ...Can anyone please explain to me why we only get/got a two year warranty in the UK on a brand new 996 whereas in the US it's a four year warranty? [8|]

POST 2Original post

We did not always have a 4 year warranty. I have a 1997 Boxster. Model year 1997-1998 was 2 years. It went to 4 years for model year 1999 when we finally got the 996. Jeff

POST 3Original post

Various rumours as to why (parting gesture from a senior exec etc), but at the end of the day it is the marketplace - when the rest of the marketplace are offering 4/5/6/lifetime warranties then Porsche had to step up or lose business - especially with their slightly more litigious society. In the UK we get shafted, plain and simple. People keep buying the cars, so why bother with a longer warranty.

POST 4Original post

Its not just 2 years only in the UK, its everywhere except the US So little chance of us making a change on our own.
