Removed cats (still has OEM) and installed Becker down tubes with resonators, Gundo mod, removed airbox resonator (has OEM) and replaced with silicone hose and cap, installed a B&M short throw shifter, installed a transmission mount insert, plasti dipped wheels, and Porsche decals.

CarFax 8 owners (appears to be 5 real owners) - it lived in FL from '03-'07 owner 1 serviced a Brumos, '07-'11 owner 2 serviced a Brumos, '11-'12 owner 3 serviced at Brumos (up to 34K at this point), it was bought and brought to NC, changed hands for 6mo, owner 5 had from '14-'16 and it was serviced at Foreign Cars Italia; current owner got in '16 with 62k and has had it since.

The interior was incredibly clean, no rips, tears, with only a little wear on the drivers side bolster.

I went and looked at a somewhat local '04 996 with 79k on the clock and I am considering a PPI if I can get a price agreed upon with the seller. But before I do that, I'd appreciate any thoughts on the car - if it's a resounding "keep looking" then I don't want to waste the time and effort.
Here is what I know:
'04 Speed Yellow
CarFax 8 owners (appears to be 5 real owners) - it lived in FL from '03-'07 owner 1 serviced a Brumos, '07-'11 owner 2 serviced a Brumos, '11-'12 owner 3 serviced at Brumos (up to 34K at this point), it was bought and brought to NC, changed hands for 6mo, owner 5 had from '14-'16 and it was serviced at Foreign Cars Italia; current owner got in '16 with 62k and has had it since. He is a Porsche enthusiast with a 944 Turbo and Cayenne Turbo.
In '16 the car had an IMS failure at 59K and the motor was sent to Vision for a rebuild (I have the full rebuild sheet) and spoke to Vision about it (nothing special done). I'm trying to track down if the clutch was replaced at 59K at Foreign Cars Italia.
The current owner in the last 5 years has done AOS, front control arms, tie rods, oil changes every 5, filters, cleaned radiators and added screens, tires. Brakes have not been done.
There are some mods on the car. Removed cats (still has OEM) and installed Becker down tubes with resonators, Gundo mod, removed airbox resonator (has OEM) and replaced with silicone hose and cap, installed a B&M short throw shifter, installed a transmission mount insert, plasti dipped wheels, and Porsche decals. Luckily he has all of the OEM parts and are reversible.
My impressions. The car drove great, but it is my benchmark of a 911...first one I've ever driven. The short throw shifter was super tight, and took some getting used to. There were no rattles, sounds, it was straight as an arrow at 80mph on the interstate and super tight in changing lanes as it should be. We were on some back country roads and the suspension was tight and quiet over rough patches. The interior was incredibly clean, no rips, tears, with only a little wear on the drivers side bolster. The body was straight, couldn't find any door dings. There are a few rock chips here and there as expected. The paint was very clean with a deep rich color as expected. No evidence of body work (clean CarFax as well).
I know it's not much info, but based on the collective experience, is this one worth pursuing? If so, what should be an acceptable price range, given a PPI checks out. Appreciate the time and insight.

I'm not qualified to speak to the IMSB issue but the price seems to be fair, especially given the color and miles on the rebuilt engine. This 2002 just popped up here:

Not as purdy but 120K miles. Also with a new IMSB. Your concern is with bore scoring so an invasive PPI is required Good luck!.

PPI x a million. Go into it, no matter the paperwork or personal opinion, with all the knowledge/info you can gather.
It's funny, each new "hows this thing look" thread that comes up...I get a little nervous for each perspective buyer. :-)
