I've fitted a new seal now with a big thanks to Uncle Monty for lending me the tool which made the job very easy.

For the FMS I just used the old seal to tap in the new seal.

Suggestion
If you want a version like my current design that uses bolts in the crank to gradually press in the seal then I'll need you to get some more measurements.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i have a new seal ready to go in, would anyone mind lending me the tool to install it i would pay all postage costs obviously , if any one could help that would be great thanks.
I've got one Hooner , I had it made years ago for the Boxster but pretty sure it's the same . I used to rent it out with IMS tools many years ago.
Let me know , I'll get a photo of it.
I've fitted a new seal now with a big thanks to Uncle Monty for lending me the tool which made the job very easy. And thanks to Corneg also for the offer and to the site for making it all possible.
Hello All, help needed.
I have a 2004 996 GT3 with a leaking RMS which I'm about to replace (will also be the same as the Turbo model). I have the replacement Porsche seal but was wondering if there's anyone out there that could loan me the installation tool. I'll cover all the P&P costs.
thanks Jer.
Not sure if this is allowed so apologies if not, but I've designed and 3D printed a tool for installing the RMS. I usually sell them for £45 but happy to sell them for £30 posted to anyone on this forum.
Hi Nathan,
I would be interested if you are able to print one for the Turbo/GT3 model, the RMS is a different size to the standard 996 RMS.
Also are you able to print the tool for the Front crankshaft seal?.
Hi Nathan, the Turbo/GT3 RMS dimensions are 90 x 110 x 12mm. (seal part number is 99710126490)
The front mail seal is 30 x 50 x 10mm. (seal part number is 99710226591)
cheers Jer
This is a picture of the tool I've designed for the RMS on the M96/97 engines. If you were happy with just a plastic ring that matches the size of the seal which you could use to tap the seal in, then that's fine, I can design and 3D print that quite easily. I would need to know what depth the seal has to be installed to also. If you want a version like my current design that uses bolts in the crank to gradually press in the seal then I'll need you to get some more measurements. Happy to help with either option.

I ended up ordering a 3D printed tool from the US which was specific for the Turbo/GT3 model. Tool worked really well with no issues.
For the FMS I just used the old seal to tap in the new seal.
