Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Might get all arms with balljoints from Porsche and then rebush the others (get price off Porsche for checking figures).

So i'm wondering if there's a company out there that will take them, industrial clean / blasting them and then installing new bushes and ball joints etc.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Is it possible to refurb the original suspension stamped 996 marked track control arms, lower and upper arms and track rod ends?
I got real pleasure in cleaning mine over the winter months and exposing all the manufacturing stamps and markings.
So i'm wondering if there's a company out there that will take them, industrial clean / blasting them and then installing new bushes and ball joints etc.
Just a thought
The cost to refurb them outweighs the price of new ones so folk tend not to bother. Hartech used to do the coffin arms many moons ago when they were much more expensive.
Thanks for all the above comments. I'm still looking to change / refurb mine during next winter. Might get all arms with balljoints from Porsche and then rebush the others (get price off Porsche for checking figures).
I just like the moulding / stamping of 996 with part number, country etc - sadly
Partworks in Germany offer the service, I just received a set last week - they are beautiful

The refurb is done by a company called Prekom, based in Slovenia. (

Given that Partworks are Germany, I don't know what happens with import taxes etc. So maybe check with Prekom for a UK distributer.
I thought about refurbing the coffin arms on mine as well, but decided it's not worth polybushing them, for example. If you can't change the ball joint, the arm will be scrap anyway and there's high potential that the ball joint is even destroyed when the arms are removed.
Not sure if you know but the 9x7 cars use the same coffin arm as the 9x6 cars but on the front it has a much thicker stiffer fuller bush. I didn't know when renewing arms on my 981 - they have the same arms - until I had the parts side by side for comparison. The thing is the part number on the arm is the same because - I think or guess - its the same aluminium casting. That fooled me. Hopefully this pic shows the difference in the bush.
