Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
48 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

This Boxster I posted a link to has been for sale for ages. As soon I have posted the link and its spec to ask peoples views on it someone has bought it unseen.I hope it blows up on you.
I will never again post a link to a car that I think is a good deal.

If you wanted to buy it, why didn't you put a deposit down on it?
Otherwise what's the problem?

What a strange person you are...
Hmmm.. so you post a link to a Porsche on a Porsche forum and somebody buys the car from under you. Going by the replies in your original thread it seems unlikely that the buyer was on here, even so, first come first served, live and learn.
To say that you hope that the car blows up on the new owner kind of says it all.
Didn't buy it straight away as the salesman was letting me and my wife test drive it today. Couldn't test drive it on the day I went to look at it as it had a flat battery.
Why am I a strange person?

Your attitude.
I looked at that car (online only mind!), so bear in mind you may have dodged a bad one anyway. You were after a second opinion because it DOES seem a good price.
Shortly due a service, £475 a year VED, been SORN since 30/09/13 so not been run much. (It is a 2009 year 58 reg though, as if that really matters?)

For your post to make any sense, you must think that:
all Porsche buyers read Pistonheads;
all Porsches for sale are only advertised on Pistonheads;
all other Porsche buyers are incapable of sorting through the classifieds for themselves; and
posting a link on an open forum to a car for sale somehow gives you 'dibs'

It was me
:
A cheesy (but also very true) sign seen in a dealers years ago:
"The car you saw today and decide to buy tomorrow is the car somebody else saw yesterday and decided to buy today"
Could have been the best car you never purchased........or the worst you ever did..Not rare so take your time and get the best you can afford. Good luck with your search.
give the guy a break. Obviously frustrated that the car he had set his eyes on got snapped up. I can guarantee you that there is another out there and it just was not meant to be. The one you find will be better, faster etc... If you had wanted the car you would have bought it. Patience and enjoy the hunt for your ideal Porsche.

I think if the guy had simply expressed disappointment that the car he was after had been sold, then there might have been some sympathy.
However his attitude towards the new owner (in the title and the main post) meant that he came across like a tw*t and hence people have responded accordingly....
Getting over being pissed off now. Couldn't believe it when I phoned the dealer up this morning to sort the test drive out. I think if I hadn't posted the spec up no one would have bothered.

As you clearly sold the car, get some commission.

You should ask for a bit of commission with that free publicity you gave it. More likely you were not the only one who was interested in the car and independent to your own post they decided they wanted it more than you.
No worries chill out and go find another. Porsche made quite a few of them sure there is another out there with your name on it.
Enjoy
I think this is a well known principle for older pork. Never post a link to a car as your chances of getting gazumped (especially if its a well priced "good un") are huge

So, posting a question on here about a car for sale takes it off the market?

Congrats Steve if you really have bought it
OP, there are plenty more out there, dont worry the next one will be even better im sure!
The OP kind of exemplifies the general publics perception of Porsche owners. I wonder if he started stamping his feet when the dealer told him it was sold LOL.

Funny if you're joking. Even funnier if you're not.
Trust you HPI'd it? I looked at a car advertised here last week. Seemed solid and well looked after, but came up as a Cat C write off, exported to Northern Ireland by the current owner, who claims 58,000 miles, revealed as 123,000 in 2009.
Reported the ad days ago, but it's still up.
