I also thought that you could reset a 996 manually, so I googled it and you can do this without a scanner.

Morning All,
I need to recalibrate my steering angle sensor. Ive got the icarsoft Por V2.0 which cant do it.
Are any other units capable of doing this, other than Piwis/ Durametric? I.e. the Foxwell units?

Thanks Martin, thats good to know! Ill get on the hunt for one i think, the Icarsoft has been great so far but I was a little disappointed that it couldnt do this on the 996.

, just double checking you've managed to do it on a 996? Foxwell seem to say it wont work on a 996 when i've spoken to them although they have suggested my question is so specific and they cant possibly know everything. Just want to be sure before taking the plunge.

Put that into google and it comes up with how to do it without a scanner. I ave a feeling that this is how i did it on my 996.
Hi Martin, thanks so much for looking into it, im sorry ive taken up your time!
I had done plenty of searching and Google ai does bring up some ways to do it without diagnostics (and ill try them for sure!) but apparently it cant be done properly without diagnostics. As I say ill try it anyway and see, cant hurt to try!
Update, i contact a local Porsche aficionado who pointed me towards a local specialist, i called them and he reset it in a matter of minutes. He also insisted on checking my cam deviation figures whilst he was plugged in (results were basically zero!) then refused to take any money. The specialist was AHRS near Bishop Auckland, North East.
I'll need to go out for a proper and spirited drive to make sure thats it gone but it looks promising. My steering angle sensor now measures zero when im pointing dead ahead whereas before it was saying 15 degrees.
