Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I when for retrofitlab projectors and new bulbs as a good investment, taking the opportunity to clean the inside of the main lenses to the degree possible.

Then I replaced all of the lamps and that was a step up also.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

My other projector is starting to show coating wear on the reflector, so I will likely replace the projectors soon with aftermarket ones as the reflectors are not available separately.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking to upgrade the bulbs on my litronic headlamps
is there a preferred bulbs option with you guys want to improve dipped and main beam
regards Steve
These cars are getting so old, that the lenses and reflectors could also use some attention. I took mine apart last year. It's quite simple as you can pull the entire projector out from the back of the headlight. Cleaned everything, including the insides of the lenses and fitted with new Osram bulbs. The difference is rather stunning.

When you remove the projectors you can get to the inside of the lens with a dowel and a rag, though some of the corners will be challenging, especially around the halogen fog light. The 996 Litronics are Bi-xenon, so 1 bulb and the shade moves out of the way for high beam. Then there is the halogen H7 high beam in addition.
Osram Nightbreaker Laser have been my go to choice of bulbs for years after being recommended them by my indy... Osram now appear to do a 'XENARC Night Breaker Laser' series which they claim is better still
- I find they have a really good temperature colour for distance and also reflection off signs and cats eyes, etc

I did exactly this on my car. Wow! what a difference, not stretching things to suggest that it was like night and day. Most definitely a worthwhile upgrade but only if, I would suggest, if you have good exteriors on your light units to begin with. I refinished the exteriors first and that of itself make a noticeable difference. Then I replaced all of the lamps and that was a step up also. However the step change was the RetroFit kit, worth every penny, in my humble opinion.
I put these in mine...

They seem pretty good, but I guess new projectors at this age would really help.
The retrofit lab projectors were a legitimate upgrade, particularly as they also effectively convert you to Bi-Xenon i.e. the HID light is used for both low and now high thanks to a shutter system... only issue I had with retrofit was the mounting alignment brackets, which were miles off(!) I ended up having to cut and modify them myself in a heath-robinson fashion
Assuming retrofit lab have addressed that I would definitely go that route in addition to upgrading bulbs
