Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Apparently there is a audible alert you can enable via the onboard computer using the lower hand stalk found on some 996s(after 2001??
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

First off to avoid being pounded on for asking a question, i've searched the forums, repeatedly.
I purchased a 2000 996. Couldn't be happier. AS i'm driving it enjoying it continues to make this annoying buzzing sound not out of place in a game of operation... So i do my due diligence and find out it's a 'Acoustic Speed Limit Warning'... well tons of post on how to remove it on the 996 which have that lower left arm to mess with the OBC but nothing on how to remove it on a car that doesn't have that stalk!! I have a four spoke steering wheel and only three stalks, one on the left for the signals and high beams and then the two on the right for the wipers and cruise control... any ideas other than taking out the fuse, or god forbid, driving under 75 mphs??
ANY help would be sooooo appreciated, I almost just opened the door going 80 and jumped out after driving the car home (290 mile trip) and having that annoying buzzing sound haunting me (I swear I had a nightmare that night and the buzzing sound was in it!!)...
thanks in advance, and please, all apologies if I missed a solution
Apparently there is a audible alert you can enable via the onboard computer using the lower hand stalk found on some 996s(after 2001?? ) , but it's not on my car so I have no way of accessing the enable/disable...
You just didn't look in the right forum.
Check here for some ideas from the 996 GT3 guys.

It's been a long time since I've done this, but there is a way to access a diagnostic system by going through the HVAC system controls. Do a search on this topic and I'm sure you'll find information.
Seems like part of it will allow you to access the OBC functions without having the stalk and I think I recall one of the settings was an audible speed alarm, but that was years ago.
Good luck!
