Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have taken the front suspension apart on my 1999 996 C4 Convertible. When installing a new strut I am not sure of the correct alignment of the top mount with regard to the other strut components so that the camber (I think that is it) is correct. My new top mount each have arrow on them and I assume that they should be pointed to the front of the car. I have checked through the manual and a few other sources but cannot find any help to ensure that the fitting is correct. Of course, after also refreshing the rear suspension, I will be immediately taking it to Munk's Motors for a full alignment. I would like to get it somewhat close. Any help or suggestions for this issue? Bill

BTW, Where did this come from?

Thanks for the help. Looks like I have them complete. The top bolts are tight and I will check the torque when I install them. Thanks again.

Source of that page is the Porsche 996 workshop manual available for download as a pdf on the Internet. Make sure that you attach the rubber bellows to the bump stop. The lower ridge on the bump stop sits in the corresponding channel(?) of the bellows.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
