This is not a probability of success.

When I had a similar issue, I replaced the ground cable for the battery. Sounds almost too simple, but no more problems in the last 100k+ miles.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

First time poster, sorry to start with a problem. I was driving my car on a country road today when all of a sudden the engine cut power mid rev and all the lights came on on the dash. It just shut off. Luckily I was on a downhill slope and I coasted to the side of the road without power steering. I tried to turn the car on again and it cranked, but wouldn't turn over. I am hoping this is not a huge deal, can anyone talk me off the ledge? I towed it to a garage tonight. It is a 2002 S with 77k. My first guess was a fuel pump or filter issue, but every owner always has the IMS issue in the back of their mind. If it were the IMS I am assuming there would be no doubt and the engine wouldn't crank...

POST 3Original post

When I had a similar issue, I replaced the ground cable for the battery. Sounds almost too simple, but no more problems in the last 100k+ miles. Cheap fix, hope this helps. Keep us posted.
