Hi, I started my 986 engine, drove around the block then engine stalled and it wasn't able to restart. Codes said MAF error and missfires (on one bank only). MAF sensor is brand new OEM from Pelican. Next day, engine restarted with the old MAF sensor but still runs on one bank only. Replaced then the camshaft sensor. Engine runs better but still gets missfires (between 2 and 3000rpm) randomly. Any idea what should I try next?

What is the condition of your plugs and coil packs ( cracks )? Is the intake system intact with no air leaks? Good Luck, Rob

Yep, I'd have a look at the coils. I had a similar problem. The engine started to run very rough, like it was missing on one or more cylinders. It was one of the coils. Replaced it and all was well.

Thanks guys for your answers. I will check the coils but the thing is, I get missfires on 3 cylinders on one side. If it was a spark plug or a coil, wouldn't those missfires be only on one or two cylinders only?

Any pending codes? Could be a failing VarioCam solenoid or actuator. The DME will try to change the fueling to compensate and get the sensor readings it wants and this can lead to a mixture that misfires. The long term fuel trims might provide a clue if the two banks vary by say around 10%.
