If you have any ideas as to where water drains are that should be cleaned I would like to hear so I can deal with them.

I have not made the jiump yet to replace my stock head unit.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just picked up a 2001 Cab for my wife which will lead to the sale of my 1991 Targa in a week or so... But it's different and has some issues:
Has the Litronic headlamps. The large outer lens is a bit loose at the top and leaks water. Anyone know what sealant needs to be used?
Is there a bumper / front end scrape protector? I installed a stainless steel bar bought on eBay for the 1991 and its great but wont fit this
Is there a protector plate for under the engine area? Want to keep it from contacting speed bumps
Also... It has factory chrome turbo twists and I want to get the later straight spoke painted wheels... Anyone have a source?
Factory stereo w/ no cd changer. What have folks put in to replace it....
Thanks in advance... Very excited about the new adoption
Congrats on the cab. Saw a sweet silver 997 TT cab that passed me last week had that look.
On the lights, if assembly is loose you may be able to R&R it and get it to fit tight. Tool to remove it should be in the tool pouch. The system throws fault codes and that may tell you whether all is well with your headlights after you button it up. I bumped mine which caused leaking. Needed new light.
The protector is factory. I have seen protector plates for the rear, but not 100% certain the factory made another piece for under the front (mine doesn't have one). I may have seen an aftermarket one for the front. Only the tips of my exhaust used to touch the ground sometimes while entering or exiting one extremely steep driveway don't go into. The issue with speedbumps and preventing them from damaging (hitting) is making the driver aware of what can happen if you don't go over the bump at a slow enough speed (it can hit unless go slow). Once aware of how to drive a 911 over a speed bump the car should not touch. Remember that first time you hit a speedbump with your 911, you won't do it again will you? It is nice insurance.
The wheels you mention sound like 997 style.
Sub can go under the rear luggage shelf panels. If that is the way you want to go. I haven't seen any for sale. I have the CD changer in the trunk, so haven't looked into the stereo upgrading issue too much. What I like is the navigation system in the dash. When was the last time you looked into a custom stereo on a 911? Alternatively, does she listen to an Ipod? That would be what I would suggest untill you reach decision on who would be best to do stereo upgrade.
Do you have sport exhaust?
Cabs rule huh.
Regards,
The car is all stock...... The stereo is better than I thought now that I have the radio code!! I am just going to look for an iPod interface. Found a front underside plate thats plastic and an engine guard in the Performance Products catalog.
I want to re-program the auto locks but cant find instructions yet....
If you have any ideas as to where water drains are that should be cleaned I would like to hear so I can deal with them.
Hard tops are for sale in So. Calif for 500-750. Thinking of getting one.... Thoughts? And thanks for your comments....
regarding the stereo upgrade, Car Audio Innovations has some good information on their website. I have not made the jiump yet to replace my stock head unit. The good news is that with a 2001, you have many choices of headunits. I have heard that you need to be careful how the wiring harness is connected and may need an adapter to connect things easily. Have fun with your new car.
