I think I would change the rotor anyway if it were me, but check the back plate is not catching on the rotor and causing your grinding noise.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I was having an issue with the driver's side rear caliper making a real bad grinding noise. When I took out the pads, I found out that one of the vibration dampers had stuck to one of the pads. I got the pads out...and ultimately put in new pads and dampers. But the noise is still there! The rotor is scored quite badly...could that be the problem? Should I replace the rotor? Take a look: Thanks! Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk

I think I would change the rotor anyway if it were me, but check the back plate is not catching on the rotor and causing your grinding noise.
