Yep, I've heard that before but when I checked with them on another older Cayman we have I was told no, it must be an OPC as per the Ts&Cs.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
I’ve owned my 2017 991.2 4 GTS a year now. It’s due its first service under my ownership in June this year. It’s done 59k. The warning light just came on saying it’s needs an oil change, so was hoping that was the minor service. I’ve contacted my local Porsche dealer to book it in and this is the quote. I wasn’t expecting servicing a Porsche to be cheap, but certainly wasn’t expecting this either. Does it look right to you all, please? Or are they trying to just get extra money for things that don’t strictly need doing:
My 2016 991.2 is being serviced shortly. The estimate shows the same items minus the spark plug change which is due every four years. These cars are to be serviced every two years so a 2017 car should have had an 8 year service in 2025 which would include the spark plugs.

Thanks 👍🏻
Looks expensive to me.
Within the last 2 weeks I’ve had an 8 year 40k service on my 991.2 carrera 4 gts cabrio and it was circa £1800 ,
Inc 2 coils and a new rear tyre, a mot and courtesy car .
Will try to post up a copy of the 3 page invoice tomorrow.

With the extras, that appears around £1000 less than mine..
That would be great, thank you!
Email a couple of other OPC. My local OPC wanted £2500 for the four year service on my 992 a few weeks ago. I reached out to a couple of others and for the sake of a hours drive, I saved £700.

Good idea, thank you!
If a light has just come on it means last service was in 2024 meaning it's either had a service done early somewhere or maybe one was done late.
You need to look at the book or if service work done at OPC get them to check the Database to see what's been done in previous services.
Only then will you be able to determine which items need doing and able to get comparable quotes. If it's not under warranty then it doesn't have to go to OPC either
The core service and brake fluid are pretty much exactly what I paid last year on my 3.8 GTS.
The plugs and belt work are very costly. The description on the belt suggests it s a check only. I wonder if they have added this as a stand alone job which includes cost to strip down the rear of the car (bumper off etc) which I think they do anyway for the service.
At £300/PH any additional labour shoots the price up.
Some OPCs offer decent PCGB discount. My local ones don t so I swallowed the difference for the convenience.
ETA it does say composite work which may be the term for additional tasks rather than stand alone. £500+ to check a belt

Yes the belt is checked after every 4 years from new and changed after every 6 from new. Would it be better just to change it every 4 years? Or is the actual changing a big additional cost to the check?

Upcoming eight-year service on my 991.2 will cost £2,350 at local OPC. I could save £150 at one elsewhere but faff would be involved.
Fair enough. Have you been quoted for the same things as me, please?
I'm sorry - that's just taking the proverbial urine. Why are you using a Porsche Main dealer anyway? You should be going to a respected specialist, as this does not compromise any warranty you might have. Main dealer service rates are about £200 per hour and you're paying for 'wet behind the ears' Service Techs who only know how to change parts.
Not quite the same but last year I had a 4 year service on my 4.0 Boxster including plugs and brake fluid at Swindon and it was more than £500 cheaper than Reading. Car is under warranty so OPC is unfortunately mandatory.

Sounds about right for an OPC. I just had my 2018 991.2 GTS 8 year service, which to be the same as your quote minus the drive belt which i think i had at 6 yrs. I paid £1700 a few weeks ago.

I bought .2 GTS late last year and it was due a major in Dec 2025 and it was slightly more than you were quoted, circa £2500.
A few things I found,
1. They didn't replace the main air filter as on the .2 it's designed to last 6 years!!!
2. Lots of charges to inspect i.e check the drains etc
3. The PRG (Porsche Retail Group) OPCs would NOT negotiate and when you ring around the PRG OPCs all quote the same costs. I even tried Glasgow as I was due a visit to family and friends and thought I could do the service at the same time, same price as London.
4. I ended up using Porsche Tonbridge, who are not PRG owned, they were cheaper by about 20% to start with and offered a 10% PCGB discount so I ended up paying circa £1800 for the same service (still expensive for what it is) but I wanted no doubt about warranty.
5. Apparently a lot of the south coast OPCs, again not PRG owned, offer much larger PCGB discounts of circa 25% on servicing and £33% on labour outside of servicing.
If I wasn't tied to Porsche to maintain the warranty I would go to an indy.
Good luck
Just been sent the service history:
So initial questions are the drive belt was done at service 3, so why does it need doing again now? And looks like the 10 year work at the top is because the car was bought by the previous owner in June 2024 and looks like it was serviced early as part of the deal?

Servicing by a Porsche Partner Network (PPN) registered independent specialist will not affect an existing Porsche extended warranty providing they follow the schedule and use genuine parts. Porsche Customer Relations have confirmed this to me in writing (twice). But there is considerable confusion about this even amongst some PPN specialists.

Yep, I've heard that before but when I checked with them on another older Cayman we have I was told no, it must be an OPC as per the Ts&Cs. That car now goes to Northway and we self insure.
Since they've now started diluting the robustness of the warranty terms the Boxster will be going to Northway as well once the current warranty has lapsed.

How and from when are the warranty terms diluted? I notice that there are pre and post September 2025 terms.

Here you go, 2 weeks ago
Total cost £1811.37 .
They did let me know they had under quoted for the new rear tyre .
Which was to replace a 500 mile tyre with a screw in it .

Just checking guys, other than the drive belt, does it look okay (their quote) based on the previous service history, please?
It looks ok to me. Note that there are two levels of drive belt maintenance/inspection - inspection is due 4 years from new or after last replacement and if condition passes it is changed out at 6 years maximum. I would just double check that the "drive belt" line item in your history is a belt change and not just inspection - highly likely it will be in which case belt inspection should only be required next year 2027.
If you have PDK then the clutch fluid (not the gearbox oil) should have been changed out at 6 years.
