Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Considering buying a 996 that wife would be driving, she wants crash test data but it seems that neither IIHS or NHTSA have conducted tests. Does anyone know if there is some level of data out there on the safety of 996?

POST 2Original post

Don't have any links, but lets consider that the car was designed to meet stringet TUV ratings. It was built to cruise the Autobahn at 150mph. It has airbags, ABS and depending on the year, countless other 3 letter ackronyms that speak to its forethought and design in keping you and occupants safe. High strength steel and modern crumple zones as well. It shouldn't matter if its your wife, daughter, son, uncle, father or you driving the car, should it?

Care to share? Sounds like a good story.

POST 5Original post

Do you have experience with Pcars? They are driver's cars. Let her drive yours while she researches it longer. I wouldn't get involved. Either way sounds she'll go for lots of Life Insurance these days . I don't think she needs one, wants one and I would have recommended a sedan and with Panamera still can keeping you in the marquee. That car is like an SUV next to a group of Caymans. Regards, Oh BTW if you take her to the track to spectate chances are she will see some situations first hand. The cars albeit would be caged but there she can see more and not base it on marketing hype. She'll draw conclusions following her initial perusals. The development of the 911 folows a long lineage, and much of it has been based on data collected on the track including racing. All that said, will she settle for more assurances, the 997 has several passenger airbags. Good luck. Regards,

I was just thinking.. Should the Ins Co have data to share? They set the rates based on data so surely they should be able to send/share information with you.
