New here and brand new Boxster owner, still getting some pics together for a welcome post. So many 987.2 Boxsters are PDK and that swap is well covered but can't find a good thread on swapping the manual wheel out and dealing with the paddles. Currently have the stock 2011 Base Boxster Manual with wheel controls. Would like to go to the 2015-2018 Porsche Macan Black Leather Sport Steering Wheel w/ Paddle Shifters wheel for cosmetic purposes. I know that means a new wheel and new airbag. I would like to retain the wheel controls but not a must. Is there a way to remove the PDK shifter paddles and have the wheel look correct/not throw codes? Or since I have a manual am I forced to buy a manual wheel that does not have the paddles? Seems that the PDK Macan wheels are plentiful but obviously being an SUV, manuals are not (not even sure they were sold that way)

I know somewhere I've seen a writeup on removing the paddles from the Macan design wheel, but can't actually recall where. Probably here since this is where I hang out. A trick that gives you a MUCH improved search results compared to our built-in search, is to use Google, but make it only return results it has from a specific site. This is done by using the syntax GOOGLE SEARCH: Site=Planet9.com followed by the search term you're looking for. Yes, what you're planning on doing is quite common. The paddle shifter will come out and you will put in the correct plastic plugs over them. You should not have any problems with the codes as the airbags are common. I did the swap but I do have the Tip, and the pdk paddles sport wheel and airbag swapped in problem / code free. Will be the same for you. I didn't have steering switches so I deleated them on the wheel I bought and plastic plugs went over the switches openings. And if you have the switchs already, they will work with the new wheel also because your coded for them. 💯 worth the effort. Good luck!
