Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The rear window heater on/off switch of my 996 has come out of it's socket. Is this something I can remedy myself? Tips appreciated. Migration info. Legacy thread was 24520

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, thanks to Simon from PCT next to Autobahn in Coventry I have managed to fix this. Place a flathead screwdriver under the left hand side console, underneath the cigarette lighter and undo this from it's clips. Gently pull it out and press the switch back into it's socket. Replace console into it's position. Cheers. Migration info. Legacy thread was 24869

POST 3Original post

Thanks Nitrous. I'm planning on doing a console swap, so tip on getting the old one off quite timely! Migration info. Legacy thread was 24873
