Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
If one suspects the alarm being triggered by a faulty micro-switch a query of the security module for any alarm error codes is probably a good idea.
Leading evidence: 'good idea' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'good idea' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check flying insect in the car' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
We used to run a fleet of Fords and the alarms went off on hot days & windy days due to the vents being open causing turbulence in the cabin (I know it sounds stupid ) but we shut off the inner vents and it stopped the alarm triggers - might be worth a try.

Suggestion
I tried a few things to no avail, but you can lock the car without setting the alarm so I have been just doing that instead.

You might have to turn on the cabin vent fan to full blast and use the vent control buttons to direct all the air to the center, floor or defrost vents to force the insect out of its hiding place.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

have gone into the office or we went into a restaurant. Not sure what would set if off but in both cases people told me they saw and heard my car alarm going off during the day. Thoughts??
Not sure where you are going with this. I know of no way to lock the car without setting the alarm system. You can disable the interior motion sensors by pushing the key fob lock button twice in a row. Seems to me you need to firmly establish that it is your car alarm system that is going off. When you set the alarm system you will notice a slow steady pulse of the alarm LED on the dashboard. If for some reason it has gone off and you return to your car it will be blinking very rapidly. A dealer with PWISII can be able to tell you which zone set it off. You'll have to take it from there.
I have been having the same issue, alarm goes off at random...
I tried a few things to no avail, but you can lock the car without setting the alarm so I have been just doing that instead.
To lock without the alarm, close doors, lock with fob, lights flash twice, after the second flash immediately unlock with fob and lights will flash once. After about 20 seconds or so the car will automatically lock without the alarm.
Check for a flying insect in the car. A couple of times I've spotted a small moth that comes out from around where the dash and the front glass come together.
The first time I spotted this was after a couple of unexplained triggering of my car's alarm while the car was parked on a secure parking lot at work.
You might have to turn on the cabin vent fan to full blast and use the vent control buttons to direct all the air to the center, floor or defrost vents to force the insect out of its hiding place.
After having dealt with this a couple of times I never park either of my cars with the top down -- Boxster -- or the windows open (even a crack) -- Boxster and Turbo -- or with the sun/moon roof open even a bit -- Turbo.
IOWs, when I park either car it is sealed up so nothing can get inside the cabin.
I would not be thorough if I didn't mention you should check for dampness in the cabin, at the floor around the passenger seat. The alarm going off is not a common symptom even with a damp security module but you want to be sure there is no water/dampness in the car.

Or set up a video cam in back of the car pointing towards the front and see if anything happens why your away

I have also experienced this. Sometimes, when my car is parked in sunlight, the alarm will go off. However, it does NOT go off all day. After a while, the alarm will stop.
This never happens when the top is down and the alarm is armed. With the top down, the interior motion sensors are disabled. It does not happen when the car is parked in my garage and locked.
This also never happens when I disable the interior sensors with a second press of the key fob.
The evidence suggests it's an issue with the
motion sensors and direct sunlight
. I have not determined exactly why this might happen. Instead, I disable the interior motions sensors when parking in the sun.
We had it put down to heat shimmy - like you see on the hot roads and the basis of a mirage.. It seemed the motion detectors picked up the movement of the air flow &/or the heat movement

faulty microswitch likely, in the window/door lock assembly
There are 5 internal microswitches in each door. A couple on the window, and the rest in the door lock unit.
