Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

I would say to check your ignition switch which is a known issue over time or it could be a a sticking door latch microswitch, or a failing relay, specifically R11

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 996 will sit locked on the driveway outside and on the CCTV I will see that the car although locked will randomly have all the interior lights on. When driving it the car will randomly again drop both windows and the lights will come on. The windows never drop whilst locked only when unlocked. The door actuator in the drivers door was done by Northway last November but I only noticed this issue after it sat unused for a little while and then went away and came back to a totally flat as a pancake car - the car hasn’t had a full charge and hasn’t had a run since the flat battery do we think it could be another failed actuator, ignition switch or is it battery voltage related. I cannot see any stored codes so I’m not sure what could be the cause.

Thank you for the reply. The ignition switch was done in 2024, although I’ll still have a check. I’m assuming the door latch micro switch is in the passenger side since Ray did the one in the drivers door recently. R11 is this in the relay board above the drivers fuse board? Where is best to get a replacement relay?

POST 4Original post

Most of the relays are under the dash near the fuse panel. https://911uk.com/porsche/996-fuse-and-relay-assignments.52829/

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just to add, I have gone outside and whilst the interior lights are on you cannot unlock the car on the fob, the alarm light on the dash responds to the key fob though by flashing red.

So this appears it’s the relay behind the rear seats. As there is no 11 in the front as they look like bridge points.

POST 9Original post

Alarm control module? Has any moisture got under the passenger seat?

Not that I can feel and I am not sure why it would have done. Any common areas to look for, where it may come in if so - it is a Carrera 4 coupe

POST 11Original post

Also make sure the battery is in good health as that can cause many electrical issues even after a recharge.

I have put a CTEK on it and it seems to be happy although the internal light still comes on.
