Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, looking at a 2000 996 C2, 84K miles on car and has a newer factory crate motor, never replace clutch, wondering approx cost on a clutch (how long do they go for) and any gearbox issues with these cars? Car is priced to sell, around $23K and by original owner, any input is greatly appreciated, thanks

POST 2Original post

6.3 hours is what I paid to R&R the clutch. I went with a light weight flywheel and different clutch assy. I cannot comment on the oem flywheels and resurfacing. Sorry. Check with our host for the cost of the clutch assy. If the owner got 80k on the clutch, he did very well.
