Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 996 that I replaced the clutch in with a factory clutch kit. now it is very stiff. removed it again and replaced it thinking we got a bad pressure plate also checked the guide tube and bearings and everything which was all ok. Could something in the hydrolics cause this?

POST 2Original post

Renntech has a TSB showing an update on the Fork as of April 19, 2000, from the transmission number G9600 1018220 onwards. TSB 3041 7/00 These are the part numbers Clutch release lever: 997-116-712-04 Ball Pin: 997-116-716-02 Clamp: 996-116-714-00 Sealing ring: 996-116-743-00 Spring 996-116-741-00

POST 3Original post

Could be that the booster spring (at the pedal) has snapped.

POST 4Original post

I had the same issue. Two mechanics told me I needed a new clutch. It turned out to be a broken booster spring. The spring broke and the coils were binding making it very stiff. Removing it was a big improvement. When I replaced it the clutch actually felt a little light (got used to the stiff clutch). It is easy to check and remove, but does require getting on your back and under the pedals.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok Problem solved. The helper spring came out in 3 pieces thanks everyone.
