Hi
Vin
WP0AA2A85GK171892
I am looking at a Black Edition, but things seem a bit dubious.
First, it is advertised with a 2.7 engine ........
and, has the wrong wheels for sure.
I talked to the dealer and he is positive the thing came with that engine. (2.7)
I was positive the Black Edtion came with the 3.4
He is adamant about it
i would think of anything it would be a 2.9 if not a 3.4
Ok folks, how do I solve the engine question?
help!
Thanx in advance!
2016 Porsche Cayman Black Edition
and
New special edition: Cayman Black Edition
both confirm it's a 2.7L..
I would have expected the 2.9L as well, but the dealer seems correct (I'm amazed, honestly)
That would make it RARE in a really weird way!
ALL the hype about it being just like the R model, except having AC and radios just went flying out the window.
Could it be the old-style 2.7 ?
or a A1 style ?
This weird option makes no sense to me at all.
The
981
BE were Base models with a few upgrades, a nameplate and a lot of black paint. It would have the Base's 2.7 L engine. The 2.9 engine and
Cayman
R edition were of 987 vintage, not
981
.
I know because I was offered a slot for a
Boxster
BE back in 2015, as it was the only aloocation left for the
981
series (I would up with an already built CS).
OK, thanx
I am done with this one !
The
2012 Cayman S
Black Edition is theoretically the touring version of the 2012
Cayman
R. Doesn't apply in 2016 my. They have the same engine (330HP) and stock exhaust. I don't the 2016 has an R equivalent. I wouldn't discount the 2016 if it has some decent options. It has pretty good power form the 2.7 liter engine with 275HP and the default options are $6K vs $11K if purchased outright.
I am leaning toward the 2012.
It seems to be more what i really want as you said ,an R with some comfort options .
I could part with mine for $60K
not really. The wheels are made of black powder coated golden shrew teeth and cost over $3K and will bend on a windy day, but they look good. I bent one on a Gas company road repair and they stepped up and covered the cost of replacement.
Argh argh argh on the shrew teeth!
Good to know!
But they are forged and one of the lightest wheels made by
Porsche
And that is one of the BIG pluses !
I also ran the VIN you shared in

.Yes it's really has 2,7l engine, looks like a base model.
