Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I spent an afternoon fitting a double sided bung to my air filter box after removing my resonator box. Thanks to @Alex for this and the support to install it. The car makes a much richer sound and it was a cheap and reversable mod. On closing the engine cover I noticed that the snorkel no longer fits into the lid plastic designed to accept this. I note that when I took off the pipe work and air filter box it was quite a wrestling match to get these back on. Have I moved something by accident?

Will check again first light!!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. Found time to check this. The air filter housing is sitting correctly and all screws are tight. The elbow which goes up to meet the engine lid is sitting odd. Is this right?

No and in fact you're in danger of it making contact with the alternator at speed, which will kill your alternator pulley and make a hole in your snorkel (ask me how I know). If the "plastic ear" on your snorkel has perished - looks like it but hard to tell - you'll need to DIY a solution to make it stay in place as I haven't been able to find a snorkel sold separately

Nope….rib should sit flush, it shouldn’t be at an angle.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok. Thanks I will give it another look in the morning. I’m going to spa and the ring this weekend, so would like this sorted. I might have to take it all apart and check that the base of the box is sitting right. Oddly I didn’t touch any of this when fitting the resonator bung.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorted! Thanks. I gave the airbox a good wiggle and it jumped down a bit and sits much better. Snorkel now lining up as it should. Panic over!
