Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've just replaced the cables on my 98 because 2nd was a disaster and the new ones are like night and day , don't ask me why but they are.I used the alignment tool to fit them as well.

I've got an old set you can have but I'm not sure if you can retro fit them, I've a feeling they're assembled in order at the factory and you can't replace any of the parts but I might be wrong.

Just changed my shift cables, managed to get them for £263 from my Porsche dealer, they feel smoother than my old ones.

You definitely can’t replace any parts on these, that plastic ribbed part on the end prevents you removing anything
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Yeah it's a bit fiddly, you have to get the handbrake cable in there too but use your thumbs to press it home and like the Little Fella says a long piece of smooth wood like a broom handle.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

does anyone know if the pictured gear shift cable collars are available anywhere? one of the clips or tangs on the reverse of the one show has broken which means after a few shifts collar moves and the shifting becomes tricky and vague for first and reverse.

I put a piece of wood against the grommet and hit it with a hammer towards the back of the car and lubed the grommet with grease when fitting the new cables.

You hit it towards the front of the car ! Use red rubber grease or Vaseline to lube it, doesn't harm the rubber.
£263 is very cheap from an OPC ...
Hmmm I have a similar problem, I’m taking
@Alex
suggestion of araldite as a possible solution, I’m not sure what caused the silver flakes, I’m not sure how to add further security post glue setting.
I’d agree there’s definitely been rodents in there, I think the red bits are maybe poisonous grains, they had the cabin filter cover too, but that was before me, the silver seems like flaked metal
