Suspected cause

I would suspect a rear drain blockage to be a possible suspect, VERY important that you don't let water get in contact with all the electrics under the passenger seat which can cause costly problems.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any tips on where to start looking? It's a cab. No obvious signs of where it's getting in.

POST 2Original post

Hi Phil. I would suspect a rear drain blockage to be a possible suspect, VERY important that you don't let water get in contact with all the electrics under the passenger seat which can cause costly problems. I have posted two articles in Porsche Post about it. see link below go to Page 97 https://www.porscheclubgb.com/news-and-events/porsche-post/2017/october/porsche-post-october-2017 good luck Andy

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info Andy, I'll take a look at those drains asap.

POST 4Original post

If its in the front it will be coming in from the area in front of the windscreen, where the battery / wipers are, there are two drain holes there that get blocked up with leaves etc that allow water to build up and enter the cabin. Pull the plastic cover off and you will see, the drain holes are not obvious but have a look on google! This especially happens when washing as your using much more water than just rain.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Rob, that sounds more likely. I'll take a good look at those drains at the weekend hopefully.

POST 6Original post

No worries, mine had the same. Might need an airline to blow them through, the one on the driver side by the battery tray is easy to get to, the one on the passenger side a bit more tricky.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Airline maybe a good plan. I know on my 944 I avoid air on the drains as there are some not so strong unions that may split or burst if blasted with an airline. Any such risk on these?

POST 8Original post

I think on the 996 they are a solid pipe at the front, but a gentle blow through should be fine, to be honest you'll probably see the blockage at the top of the hole anyway

POST 10Original post

After I discovered the same problem I had to go to see my GP. I’m waiting for an appointment with a geriatric specialist. I hope you solve the problem Phil.
