I put in LED backup bulbs in my 2006
Boxster S
. Is there a way to get rid of the error message that comes up when I start my car?
In my 2013
BMW
I replaced the high beams with LEDs and used an OBD bluetooth device and an app called Bimmercode to turn the error warning off. Is there a similar way of doing this on the 987? I'm not looking to replace the entire taillight, just want to get rid of the error message.
I too, switched all of my exterior lighting with LED’s, and while some gave me no problems i received error messages on others. To correct that I added inline resistors to fool the system to eliminate the messages. It was simple but laborious.
Having recently purchased a
Foxwell NT710
, I found there is a setting in the lighting section to choose between halogen and LED. Only problem for me is now that I’ve gone through the trouble of installing resistors on some, but not all the bulbs, I’m not sure if changing that setting to LED will give the system mixed readings on current and load. And I really don’t feel like disassembling all the work I’ve done to remove the resistors, change the settings with the
Foxwell
and find out that is not the answer and have to repeat it all over again. Since I have it working properly with the resistors I’ll leave well enough alone for now.
I’m curious if that setting would have saved me the trouble of installing the resistors, but if anyone has been down that road please weigh in on your experiences.
@speakerdesign
If you don’t have the Foxwell you can add the resistors or find bulbs that claim to be Can-bus capable, having built in resistors to avoid the error messages. When I did mine it was a task to source different bulbs from different manufacturers not knowing which would be compatible.
I've thought about buying a
Foxwell NT530
. Does the NT710 do more than the
530
or is just easier to operate?
This is the first scanner/diagnostic tool I’ve owned so I’m still new at this but I went with the NT710 partly because of the touchscreen over the
NT530
with what some call the ‘chiclets’ buttons.
Foxwell
’s website has a comparison page where you see the features side by side of the different models. But I’ve been happy with mine, as it’s met all of my needs so far.
Yes and yes. And MUCH easier to operate (it still has some oddities, but doing away with the chicklet buttons is a major step forward, and since it's running android, it can do neat things like send reports to your bluetoof printer..)
