Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 991 turbo S is by far the quickest car I have ever had....not to drive, but to be totally engulfed by crap off the road. Seriously I am having to clean the rear number plate every 50 miles or so. My 997 Turbo S was almost as bad. I can't seem to remember any other 911 having such a vacuum effect. Has anyone tried driving their 997 or 991 turbo with the rear spoiler permanently extended to see whether this reduces somewhat the magnitude of the effect?

POST 2Original post

Yep, have tried all that and it made little difference. Any road grim seems to get baked on with the amount of heat soaked up by the rear bumper and body panels. Still... some might say it's a nice problem to have Is your TTS your daily drive? Impressions over the 997T ?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmmm, good advice. Leave it stealth. It is my daily driver. Compared with 997 I would say the most obvious thing (apart from the interior etc) is how compliant/refined it is on the road. I remember the 997 being a lot harsher although it was a couple of years ago since I sold it. Straight line speed similar as you would expect but traction is better and generally the car is a lot more composed. PDK is faster and the sound is improved. To be honest I have only had the car 3 weeks and it is on winter tyres so haven't really had a chance to test absolute cornering grip yet. Brakes are awesome but seem to be too much on occasion for my soft winter front tyres.

POST 7Original post

They do get dirty. I was behind a 997 10 reg Turbo S on Henley Bridge last Saturday. Dirtiest Porsche I'd ever seen. Wife was with me and was was not amused when I uttered the standard Pistonheads comment about whether his other half was the same.

POST 8Original post

Unless you can write your name on the car with a jet wash you are not trying hard enough !!!

LordGlen - very nice choice of wheels and colour with the yellow. can I ask what alloys they are ? they don't look like OE 997 GT2 wheels to me but i could be wrong?

POST 21Original post

Are they 12 inch at the back? If off a GT2 I expect they are and they're pretty hard to replace compared to our usual rubber. Always seem to be supply issues. Apparently best place to order the rears is from the US! About £400- £450 for each rear tyre compared to £250 for our usual tyres. Think i'm going to have to get some new rims too. Thinking about BBS F1 if they're still made.

POST 22Original post

I was going to go down for these last Friday and some bugger had bought them. Great buy at a fiver under 2k with new rubber.

POST 25Original post

Hi IMA, my son arranged the purchase, from Super Coupes in Aldermarston they had been on a showroom car GT2 . They are not standard in that sprayed frozen grey with a stainless rim protector . Have always been reluctant to change from stock wheel but my wheels needed refurbing due to the centre cap removal at tyre changes causing lacquer damage. We did a bit of man maths and decided these gave the best look. Only have a couple of poor phone snaps taken in a force 8 storm but will post them up. I believe Porsche shop have them on their web page Edited by Lordglenmorangie on Sunday 15th December 15:05
