Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2011 Boxster base with a auto dimming rear view mirror that's shot. The replacement cost is around $600+. Has anyone replaced an autodimming r v mirror with a manual Porsche mirror, cost $125 from Suncoast parts?

POST 2Original post

Same thing happened tom me on my 2006 Carrera 997.1 I paid the price almost ten years ago, but I'm not sure if I would do it again. There is nothing wrong with the manual version from Porsche and I don't think the auto-version is all that great.

POST 3Original post

MoJo - I installed a self-dimming mirror, replacing my flip-mirror. The self-dimming mirror was less than $100, and the adaptor bracket for it was around $15. I just found the same one, even cheaper, on Amazon (and in stock) Amazon.com: Gentex 50-GENK2AM Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror by Gentex : Automotive - $80 And the adaptor bracket: Amazon.com: Master Tailgaters Rear View Mirror FOUR Metal Bracket Adapters with Universal Mirror Mounting Button Base | Compatible with Volkswagen, Audi, Dodge, Ford, Honda : Automotive - $20. So for $100 you'll have a working self-dimming rear view. Why did I install this - on a Boxster the flip-mirror is great with the top up. Top down it SUCKS EGGS.. when it's flipped to dim the bright headlights behind you, every street light is projected directly into your eyes. It's truely annoying. I'd suggest going the route I did. And even easier for you since you have the power source there already. One the adaptors - the bottom left one in their photo is the one you use. You can toss the other ones away. Good luck. I'd give you my old flip-mirror but that would actually be a disservice to you.
