Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

i've always thought that the yellow factory oil cap on my 996 engine looks a little cheap and nasty and wondered if anyone has changed their's for something different..?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Afternoon all, TFI Friday......... i've always thought that the yellow factory oil cap on my 996 engine looks a little cheap and nasty and wondered if anyone has changed their's for something different..? I've seen the black caps from the 987/997 and wondered if there are any " nicer " options. I realise that they're only usually seen by the owner and or mechanic who works on the car but nonetheless i'd like to see some other options that members may have fitted. Obviously i'll keep the yellow one to put back on the car should i ever decide to sell her. Si.

the only real alternative Porsche Oil Filler Cap and O-ring 99610703552 - 99610703552 parts.911uk.com

POST 3Original post

I am confused - 996's didn't come with the black one shown above as standard? Both 996's I have owned had the above black cap.

I bought one of those from an OPC in Provance a few years back which cured an air leak.

I dont mind the yellow cap, but that red hose is hurting my eyes.

POST 8Original post

Yellow cap for me i think it looks fine. The carbon ones imo are max power tacky. Or i'm just bored of seeing carbon everywhere now.

...sorry mate.....

POST 11Original post

I have been toying with the idea of machining a billet alloy one to see if I like it. I agree that there are not many suitable alternatives. I also think the same about the fuel filler cap.

POST 12Original post

@King Schulz : There are several different options for the fuel filler cap, I have the Porsche logo billet aluminium one (Father’s Day present off my kids) nobody ever gets to see it apart from me when I fill up

POST 13Original post

Have you still got your resonator box inside your airbox? Get shut of that and fit a cap.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

?????

POST 15Original post

Inside the airbox is your Helmholt resonator box blocking a big chunk of the airflow through the filter inside. When fitting the straight pipe, the bonus of this is 1. Increase induction noise. 2. Remove the resonator box to increase airflow through the filter. It looks like you've just blocked off the resonator box but not removed it.
