Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

All the info on here was really helpful, buying this sight-unseen with PPI across the country. I big thank you. Did clutch, RMS (was leaking) and IMS all 3 days after purchase. Surprised clutch was needed at 27k miles, but while we're in there... (Note - IMS was fine...) Car runs like new Also, had to change out those side markers... If only Connecticut winter wasn't setting in...

POST 2Original post

Damn good looking car sir. Love the color and I too wish winter wasn't upon us. I drive mine in Maryland until the first salt and sand application and then it's nighty night until Spring.

POST 4Original post

congrats and welcome to the club. And just for you, I will drive my cab with the top down tomorrow

Beautiful AND unique car. Welcome to the asylum!

POST 9Original post

What's wrong with the side markers? I drive it every season, specially on winter with the top down and without winter tires, failure to move it after 48 hours may incur in CEF.

POST 10Original post

Winter is the best time to drive these cars if it's a C4 - very capable in the snow and it keeps them moving. Best not to let this car just sit in the garage.

POST 11Original post

Look at the bright side cabs sell for less (usually) during the winter. Hope you got it for a slight discount

POST 13Original post

Congrats on your new cab. Looks very nice! Did you do the work yourself?

POST 14Original post

Congrats! Love the color combo! If you drive it in the winter or even when it's dry out make sure you have all season tires at a minimum or winter tires. Take it from me, you will plant it into a wall with summer tires, even it its 40 degrees.

Thanks guys Nice! I hadn't seen any/many Orient Reds on the market as I was searching these last few months. I wasn't targeting that color per se, but wanted something a little different. How long you had yours? Thanks! I'm on the fence about the wheels actually. 17'', sorta wish they were the turbo look 18'' or similar... I'm thinking I would need to get hard top if I do any PCA events at Lime Rock with it. 17'' for the track would probably be better tho I wish. No it's a C2 and that's what my S6 with the Blizzaks is for. I think I did okay on it, but that's all individual perception of market value I guess. Hadn't seen too many with less than 30k miles on them Thank you. I wish I could say I did. Will be installing a lift in the garage in a couple months (stack cars) and do more basic stuff, but IMS would have been beyond my comfort zone. Actually had it done at a local dealer (allowed me to purchase the parts from LN Eng. and they did the work.) Dealership gave a little warranty and was the same price as local indy was going to be to do the work. Was pleased with their service.

I hear ya. Still getting used to the engine weight behind me too... haha.

POST 17Original post

^^^ I highly recommend that you sign up for Porsche Performance Driving School. Your local PCA likely offers it a couple times a year. It will teach you how to handle the car.

POST 18Original post

Now that is a nice car. I'm always happy to see another non black/silver/gray show up. Drive it like ya stole it!

I just got mine this summer too. I love Guards Red, but didnt want the "look at me factor" in a car like this. When i saw the ad for mine it was poorly lit and I thought it was Guards red, so was pleasantly surprised when he opened the garage door. I stll love Guards red, but am happier with the subtle, more classy look of the Orient Red.

Naw, it's more the racial profiling by LEOs...."write me up red"

You write like many on this board. I too don't typically drive my C4 '03 996 cab in inclement weather. However, 911's have been built out of 100% galvanized sheet metal since the mid-70's. They do not rust. My first 911 was a '72 coupe. We lived in Massachusetts then and it was my only car (the wife had a super beetle). After three rough salt-covered winters in New England - the car started to show rust especially the rear wheel wells. If I didn't have a "daily driver" I'd drive the 911 year round and not worry a whit about it. There is a guy over on the 993 board who regularly posts about his car - which has over 250,000 miles on it - original clutch and all. His avatar shows the car completely salt covered.
