The camber setup plus the tires I'm running (Ventus V12 evo2 XL) result in loss of traction on the drive wheels with any rain more than a light mist.
Leading evidence: 'Run (ventus v12 evo2 xl) result in loss of traction' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'most important thing' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Run (ventus v12 evo2 xl) result in loss of traction' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I had another post out there regarding my snow tires and the fact that they made the car drive differently, and there was some opposing opinions as to whether or not I could run all 4 tires at the same size, but they seem to be fine.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

During a particularly nasty night of rain in the mid-Atlantic, I found myself driving home in a mix of back roads, highways, and thoroughfares. A 30-minute commute turned into a 2-hour ordeal. The time got me thinking.
Things I need to do to my '03 996 Cab to make it foul weather acceptable:
1. New windshield wipers - easy
2. Bi-xenon conversion - would welcome recommendations
3. 17" wheels with winters - tire rack has me covered
4. 4-wheel alignment - Indy has me covered
Hopefully this will reduce the pucker factor I experienced along the way, last night!
Any other thoughts or recommendations?
It sounds like you have a good list there. A word of caution on the bi-xenon conversion: don't fall into the trap of buying 6,000K or higher color temperature HID bulbs. These look very cool, but they actually reduce your visibility in poor conditions. OE HID bulbs are 4,300K because that color temperature is ideally suited for the human eye. Also, make sure your conversion includes projector style headlights. HID bulbs in reflector housings can cause irregular light patterns.
Another thing you might consider is a yellow bulb in your fog lights. These really help in rainy conditions as well as fog.
EDIT: I think all MK II 996 headlights are projectors, so you should be fine there.
My 996 is a death machine in the wet. The camber setup plus the tires I'm running (Ventus V12 evo2 XL) result in loss of traction on the drive wheels with any rain more than a light mist. Anything that actually qualifies as "rain" leaves the car floating around. The UHP summer tires just don't do a good job at removing water, especially in the widths we run.
#3 is probably the most important thing on your list as far as preventing you from becoming a hazard on the road.
As far as lighting, I have on several cars installed HIDs in the fog lamps, and I find this is a great addition for foul-weather driving, especially in the snow...
What brake pads are you running? If you've got track or track/street pads that need to be hot to bite well, you might want to swap those out for better cold-weather pads...
I didn't list the items in order of importance, but if I did I totally agree with #3 being most critical. The weather has been so mild that I keep pushing off the swap to snows. However, I had the unfortunate experience of spinning out in the wet the other day and chipping one of my 18" sport rims. Crying face.
Do you know if the center caps on the 18" are interchangeable with the 17" rim? May be a stupid question but you don't know until you ask!
What tires are your running on your car right now? How much thread is left?
I've driven my 02 C2 in very strong rain and on the mountain roads. The car was predictable; if you went too fast you will hydroplane, if you overcook it in the corner- you will spin out.
P-Zeros and the thread is getting a little worn in the teeth. Definite replacement in the spring. I'll admit I was hot-******* it when I spun out. Lesson learned.
Center caps should be swappable - I have never had to specify a wheel size when I've purchased caps in the past.
If you spun the car and only wound up with a chipped wheel, I count that as a win. I assume you didn't whack the curb or whatever it is you slid into hard enough to bone the alignment?
I love to drive the car hard, but I drive like an old lady in the rain. Ridiculously wide tires and alignment are pretty much how Porsche tamed the 911; rain eliminates much of that advantage and handling regresses 30 years.
It took a nice whack on a curb, but not too hard to screw up the alignment more than it already is. Definitely could have been way, way worse. Taught me a good lesson to Granny it up in the rain.
I'm scheduling service for the full alignment, as I'll be getting the new rims and I need new brake fluid.
Getting a quote for the xenon conversion while I'm at it. I don't feel handy enough to do that.
I have learned (verified and approved by this posting) to reduce my speed during wet road conditions. My car stays in the garage under icy or even the slightest of snow conditions. I learned that from an incident I had last winter on all year tires. I do not have snow tires.
I don't have the luxury of putting her up in the garage, as she is my DD. I feel okay if I have full-on snows and NEED to venture out. My S3, now the wife's, even with all-seasons and Quattro, can be dicey in snow. Going to get her dedicated tires as well.
Last year I got stuck at my parents house visiting way too long and had to drive my baby back home in a very light snow. I am talking about a dusting... and a normal 35-45 minute commute took 3+ hours.
No Highway at all, just main roads and shortcuts. every single stop light and stop sign had my PSM going nuts unless I took off in first and just let it idle. ANY throttle input would produce wheel spin and PSM intervention!
It was terrible... as soon as the snow hits shes stays home... as soon as the salt gets put down she gets put up for the winter!
In the rain I get the pucker factor since I drive like a grandpa and I don't get to load the suspension as I should... the rear always seems to be loose and the front wanders all over the place!
I've experienced the same thing with my Hankooks on 18" wheels, but the other day I drove thru massive rain just after having put on my winter snow tires(Blizzaks on 17" wheels) and it was just fine. I had another post out there regarding my snow tires and the fact that they made the car drive differently, and there was some opposing opinions as to whether or not I could run all 4 tires at the same size, but they seem to be fine.
UHP tires are miserable when they're cold, even when conditions are dry. Tires that handle well at 90-100 degrees can be miserable at 50-60...it doens't even have to be freezing to drastically affect tire performance.
Last sunday, I was on the track and it started raining at the beginning of my 3rd session
Oh boy, slip sliding away!
Most of us packed it up, but the club racers still had their 70 min enduro in the rain
