Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi there. Have been the happy owner of a 944 S2 for the last couple of months and had been quite content with it. No need for a 911 at all....
Anyway, there's a classic and modern classic auction every 6 weeks just down the road from me. It's online but they have a couple of viewings days. I go down there with a couple of mates to get a burger and kick some tyres of everything from Series Land Rovers to the hot hatches of our youth.
Anyway, there was this black 996.1 C4 cab that had been in a few times but not met reserve. Estimate was £12-14k. Heavily tinted windows. Cat C write off. 135k. Zero service history. More red flags than a communist rally.
Anyway, still put a bid in didn't I. Low balled it. Didn't expect to get it. Anyway, I did. And these things are binding so kinda stuck with it.
So much wrong with it but the engine sounds sweet and no sign of bore score. Already fettled and tweaked a few things and thanks to this forum have already found (potential) solutions to most of issues.
I think I love it
This is how it happens. One of the fellas up here took his 992 in for a warranty job and walked out with a 992 GT3 and an allocation for a Spyder RS.
True story
That’s an impressive upsell….

. Needs new discs so might look about getting it up on blocks for a bit and getting them stripped back.
And the aero kit is a bit Temu I think. Def not genuine. If anyone wants it, that’s coming off too.
Might sell it…. Need the cash for parts.
Thanks
Got them off tonight. Easier than I thought and looks so much better.
Well done
Just putting my nerdy hat on for a second ... the rear tyre looks quite fat, what size it ... and relax.
I swing back and forth on the aero / none aero thing. I think as a simple road car an early 996 - with ginger cators obviously - in c2 manual coupe and 17 inch wheels is ideal. Once you start to add aero and 18 wheels it becomes more shouty.
I daily'ed my simpler 996 for over a year and got loads of positive attention from every man and his dog. That was in 2019 when people still drove to work. So it's possible I just saw more people and all of them were driving and / or in traffic. I think strangers are more likely to talk to you about your car if it is interesting without being too show'ey.
Then when I got my aero 996 and felt like the attention was different. Could all be in my head - obviously - but it's like the aero car is trying harder and almost trying to look like a gt3 which isn't necessarily a good thing. It's asking for attention where as the none aero car is just going about its business below everyone's radar. So yeah i don't think any random strangers have stopped to talk to me about the aero car.
Yeah, aero kit is fake and close up it really shows. Going to have a go at the side skirts today (they literally just look like they’re slapped on top of the standard skirts. Bumper can stay for now but need to get a new standard spoiler/boot lid/engine cover.
Wheels are what it came with but need a refurb….
Got the final couple of tint films off. So much better.
A happy accident welcome to 996 ownership!
I’m looking for aero kit front bumper and side skirts for mine, if they’re decent and you decide to pull them off give me a shout
