Al joints are soldered and checked for continuity and heat shrinked all earth cables checked and seem fine.
Leading evidence: 'Check continuity and heat shrinked all earth cables' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'dab' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check continuity and heat shrinked all earth cables' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I have checked the earths with a meter and cleaned all the main earths and everything seems fine.

On my journey I swapped the head unit, amp and all speakers.

Its an Android 10 Unit and was fitted using the existing wiring and the original BOSE Analog amp that died replaced with a BASS FACE unit that uses the same brackets and essentially looks factory.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I plugged ground loop isolators into each RCA cable and that worked (but it subsequently turned out I only needed one - rear speakers I think)
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else out there had had similar issues when using an aftermarket headunit. We do get what seems to be alternator whine through the system.
Its an Android 10 Unit and was fitted using the existing wiring and the original BOSE Analog amp that died replaced with a BASS FACE unit that uses the same brackets and essentially looks factory. We love it Maps and Waze Spotify DAB+ 64GB Movie and Music Library its really is awesome apart from a bit of noise!
Al joints are soldered and checked for continuity and heat shrinked all earth cables checked and seem fine.
If anyone else has already solved this type of noise issue can you advise what product you used and where you fitted it. I have an '02 C2 Tip Cab.
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

Removing the Amp and running straight through there is a bit less noise so the amp is definitely contributing some noise into the system.
Is there a simple fix for this? I am not an electronics guy.

Thanks Alex.
Look slike I need to remove it and see if I can find an alternate ground location inside the dash as a first step. There is plenty of metal in there so hopefully not too difficult a job. If that does not work then some kind of suppressor inline with the AMP seems to be the suggestion.

reduced mine by minimising gain on amp to ensure no distortion at max volume, and putting in two ground loop isolators. I tried different rca cables , different earthings etc but not much difference.

I have noise that is linked to fan speed on my aftermarket. High fan speed on the air conditioning and interference completely blocks the head unit but no noticeable interference noise at 50% fan speed.
Switch off the engine but leave the ignition on and no interference with the fan on full. It made me think it was linked to the alternator.
I have checked the earths with a meter and cleaned all the main earths and everything seems fine.
With mine the key issue was DAB - using a powered DAB antenna, but shared earth meant you could only get Talksport. I'd rather burn the car to the axles than drive it in that condition.
Moving to a dedicated earth - all the DAB stations came back, and Radio 4 was obtainable.
Thanks for all the suggestions. The wiring is stock and fully checked when we were going through the whole car earlier in the year. Full interior out and traced every cable and joint.
Only new wiring is the adaptor harness, interesting about the DAB+ as that is a powered device from the head unit. But we have no issues with it. It works perfectly and we have hundreds of digital stations.
Have not get time to get into this weekend but will have a look next. Sounds like dedicated earth for the AMP and HU will help. Always nervous cutting into factory looms.
Its not terrible but it is there and annoying especially at low volume. I will sort it out one way or another and post the solution.
This car had the Analog Bose amp and system has a factory Sub in the footwell. All speakers are good including the sub.
Cheers

When I swapped my HU I had terrible alternator whine. I did 3 things:
High quality triple shielded interconnects (RCA cables) - helped a bit but didn't get rid of it.
I plugged ground loop isolators into each RCA cable and that worked (but it subsequently turned out I only needed one - rear speakers I think)
Some time later I swapped out the rear Bose speakers for some alpine ones - and sometime after that I removed the ground loop isolator just to check - and no more whine!
On my journey I swapped the head unit, amp and all speakers.
My only point here being that it turned out not to be the earth
Ground loop isolators were around £5 - try that first!
