Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Wondering what the correct size / offset would have been spec'd on a widebody car with the sport techno wheels.
I think the rears would have needed spacers.
Is the following correct fitment (+17mm spacers for the rears)?
Fronts - 8J ET50
Rears - 10J ET47
996.362.136.51 & 996.362.140.52
and if so, would the widebody rear tyre 285/30/18 fit that rim?
I think your rear offset is wrong - Google says ET63 and design911 confirms

This page is excellent showing all wheel sizes available. It seems a 10 & 11 are available in sport techno

I always assumed wide body cars were spec’d with 11j rears, maybe someone can confirm.
Is that your car in the picture ? What’s on your car now?
there’s normally tyre size recommendations in the handbook.
The link above from Pernicketybert is perfect, thanks!
I think 10J ET47 is for winter wheels - they are supposed to be a bit narrower and tucked in.
11J for standard c4s and turbo
285/30/18 Are the same as gen 2 narrow body tyre size so not limited to wide body.
Will fit on a 10j tyre fine.
4S and turbo (widebody) typically uses 18-inch wheels with a rear off set of et45 and 11j to fill the flared arches.
The above alloys with out the spaces would have 15mm less poke that stock so need at lease a 15mm spacer to work so 17mm would be fine I expect
Interesting replies. Thanks.
Not my car in the photos - just a websearch photo to show the wheels.
My car has the Turbo 2 solid spokes - I don't know the part numbers but they are the original wheels so expect 11J.
Was just looking at a set of S/T's for sale with the details as per my first post. My understanding then is that those wheels would be wrong - 10J rather than 11J so I will pass...
I do like the look of them tho.

Thread '993 wheel & tyre question, sport techno wheels on 993 C2s'
31 Dec 2024
Merry Xmas everyone!
I have to ask a question that will highlight my ignorance & lack of understanding of wheel offsets and tyre sizes.....
If I want to put some 996 era sport techno wheels on my C2s, I have 2 questions:
1. Assume I will need 17mm spacers for the rear but the fronts will fit fine?
2. Can I fit the 993 C2S standard 285/30/18 tyres to the rears?
Wheel numbers are:
996.362.136.51
8x18 ET50 front
996.362.142.52
11x18 ET63 rear
If I'm really honest with you all, I've reached almost 50 years old and still don't properly understand offsets - my secret shame...
