Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

IMS was done at 88000 kms (54,600 miles), it's currently at 140,000 km (86,000 miles) I can't believe the IMS would be going in that short of a period, also I don't believe it was going previously when it was replaced (was only replaced because previous owner did a clutch replacement)
Leading evidence: 'Replace imsb/rms' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'culprit than anything else' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace (was only' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Rear main seal is more likely the culprit than anything else.

Suggestion
The IMS bearing has its own oil seal which could be leaking, but can be replaced without replacing the bearing.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Seems to be leaking near this black gunk/gasket sticking out between the transmission and engine? Tried pulling at it a little and it's definitely sandwiched in there. (I brake kleened it to identify the leaking point, it was a little messier before but really not bad)

I know the only way to know for sure is to pull it apart, but it's a very, very minor leak that doesn't seem to leak enough to even measure on the dipstick after a few weeks. For a RMS leak am I good to drive it around without too much worry? Previous threads lots of people say they sometimes will seal themselves or people will just drive it until it gets worse.
Also, yay my first post, boo it's because of an oil leak.
There is no gasket between engine and transmission.
For my old eyes its hard to see orientation of your leak in the zoomed in pics of a small area...
But if you do have a drip/puddle, on the floor, wet from between engine and tranny, could be running down the engine from above (aos/its piping/etc.), or could be either rms or imsb.
Seen here on the forums, stories of changed imsb/rms that leak/have gone bad way to soon. Its all a guess at this point.
If it were mine, clean it up real good top to bottom and see if you can pin point the leak after a ride or 2, oil always leaks down....

Several things. Rear main seal is more likely the culprit than anything else. It won't hurt anything to leave it just as it is considering how little it is leaking. An IMS bearing going bad is highly unlikely in your situation and even if it were going bad it has no relationship to an oil leak. The IMS bearing has its own oil seal which could be leaking, but can be replaced without replacing the bearing. You would have to be leaking a lot of oil for it to register on the dipstick! Look at your floor. A tablespoon of oil would bother me, but would never be noticeable on a dipstick. You can barely tell when the engine is half a quart low of oil on the dipstick, but half a quart of oil on your garage floor would be an emergency. I wouldn't worry about it too much, you can always deal with it later.
Oil leaks can be very frustrating to locate. It would be very hard to know for sure that the leak isn't coming from higher up on the motor since it is so difficult to see back there. My engine and trans are out of the car right now and the engine is a bit of a greasy mess from top to bottom.
Okay a few more things, maybe all unrelated or pointing towards one thing. in 4th, 5th, and 6th at varying RPMs from say 2000 to 4000 rpm, there is a rattling sound when decelerating/coasting, with no gas/brakes applied. its certainly not quiet but not deafening by any means. as soon as i touch the gas even a fraction, the rattle goes away, sound seems to be coming from the engine/transmission.
Ontop of that, there is a thunk when I touch the gas, even a little bit, and a thunk when I let off. if im in third just coasting the slightest touch there will be an audible thunk, and an audible thunk when i let off. (transmission/engine mounts?)
oil leak is still present, and still minor.
Thunk could be caused by worn transmission mount.
Kick the silencers/mufflers and listen whether that sounds the same to the rattle you mentioned.
A broken Weld or the 'bulk heads' inside them being loose could be the cause.
Thunking them I can't hear any rattle, it's a metallic sounding rattling though when it's happening. Also forgot to mention, rattle goes away when clutch is depressed as well.
