Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Just a quick question, I have fitted some 10mm spacers to the front of my 996, now these spacers are flat, no lip, when I put the wheel up to the hub now I have lost the lip on my original hub, so my question is do I need the a lip or will the five bolts suffice, it’s seems fine just thought I’d check first, I have used 37mm bolts to cover the spacer and get 8 plus turns on the bolts when tightening!

That is the "safe" answer, but I am sure people have used larger spacers on the rear without rolling the arches.

Design 911 have a 7mm front 15mm rear set which sound like they might do the job.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Morning all,
I have a 1999 996 C2 on 18" turbo style wheels with standard suspension, and would like to get the wheels spaced to improve the slightly undernourished look of the standard car.
Has anyone any advice or better still experience, as to how large the spacer should be front and rear in order to get the wheels sat right but without the need to roll the arches.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Dan
Dan!!
For 996's up to MY2001, Porsche say a maximum of 5mm spacers on the front, and 17mm spacers on the rear,
BUT
if the rear spacers are over 5mm the rear wing seams need reworking. That is the "safe" answer, but I am sure people have used larger spacers on the rear without rolling the arches. Hopefully someone here has some experience to share.....
Thanks Richard,
I really appreciate the rapid response When you say wing seams, is that the arch lip or something else?
i always appreciate a safe answer to start with!
Dan.
On the Porsche technical bulletin they refer to it as wing seams, as the inner and outer wing join at that point, but yes - it is the arch lip that is rolled in. If you would like a copy of the bulletin, drop me a PM with your email address.
Thanks Pieman7, the front end advice seems consistent. As for my C2, maybe the narrower rear would be ok with lesser spacers. By the way, did you have any issues with the tyres rubbing?
No I've had no rubbing at all. My car seems to sit very low as well not sure if it has sports suspension the wide arches definitely help if I were you I would take Richards advice with the 5 and 17 mm
I have wheels that are 7x17 ET29 front 8.5x17 ET 31 rear (CLR's bespoke Fuchs style super-lights).
The tyres are 225/40/17 front and 255/40/17 rear, making them the same size as my previous 18s.
So that's equivalent to 15mm front and back and there's absolutely zero rubbing issues.
Thanks Jagd Hamster. Do you have any picture you could post at all please. Sounds like an interesting wheelset.
Also so thanks to all who have replied I really appreciate the time you've taken to post. Design 911 have a 7mm front 15mm rear set which sound like they might do the job.
Wheel spacers question Hubcentric?
Hi everybody, hope your all having a lovely weekend!
Also the spacers are 5x130 with no tolerance, 5 holes fit like a glove!
Is the weight of the car on the Lip or the Bolts or is the lip just to centre the wheel, my spacers are fine if the latter is the case.
Cheers
Paul
Hi all,
Thinking about putting spacers on my 996 C4S.
am i right in thinking 5mm front and 20mm rear is the maximum without rubbing and allignment issues?
Many advice where to purchase them from? would rather get heavy duty reliable ones.
Regards
