Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If so do you recommend a good place to get this swap done or a good shop for audio work with Porsche knowledge?

For those that don't have a compatible system to make the "Mr.12BVolt" BlueTooth system work, I recommend a simple Bluetooth FM transmitter.

The reason I ask - if you do not have the cd changer already - you will need to have the cd changer option activated in the CDR-23 using a PIWIS (dealer or independent) before the new device will work.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Not sure if anyone has done this or maybe Im not searching correctly. I have pccm in my current 996.1 without Bose. I want to move that unit to my 40AE with Bose. Questions below
Can this be done?
If yes, assume I have to buy additional cables/parts? If so which parts/cables
If yes, I havent seen them sold separately. Does anyone know a source to buy separately?
Bonus question: Anyone from Austin Tx? If so do you recommend a good place to get this swap done or a good shop for audio work with Porsche knowledge?
Many thanks in advance.
you may have to deal with the issue of differing stereo wiring, the early cars have different wiring than the post 2001-2002 cars for the MOST based stereo equipment.
i wonder what different wiring you would need to make that happen, will you need a working stereo in your 996.1 also? as you wont be able to easily switch your AE stereo into it either.
anything can be done all it takes is time effort and money....
i would get a new set up in my AE unless my 996.1 was being sold off for parts or scrap...
IMHO, with the PCCM+, you should have everything in the box to connect it to a 2004 AE40 car with fiber optic MOST transfer bus. However, the PCCM+ unit needs to be switched for BOSE output. That has to be done by the dealership. I'm sure there are hacks floating around that know how to get into the Android programming settings that will allow the unit to be switched via the hidden menu. As a side note, there is no harm trying, but you must remember to at least switch the output from "AMP" to "CAN" in the settings.
Unfortunately I had an Indy install it in my .1 so the contents of the box, I never saw. I might just keep it in the .1 and install a rennkit btr or mr12v in the 40AE, that way I get to keep the fader and the stock look.
Think the value of the 996.1 might just be more marketable for sale
on the other hand, I still have the PCM 1.0 of the .1 decisions decisions.
sounds like there is no way to buy any missing content from the original pccm+ box separately
Same product. What we do is listen to feedback from 1000s of customers to develop more detailed install instructions as well as obtain the know how to circumvent problems that arise... Also have a direct line to the factory if we get stumped.
40AE with Bose - CDR-23? Have cd changer in the frunk? The reason I ask - if you do not have the cd changer already - you will need to have the cd changer option activated in the CDR-23 using a PIWIS (dealer or independent) before the new device will work. I have a 2003 with CDR-23/Bose - and had to have the cd changer option activated. The reason for this is the MR12volt/BTR-3 emulates the cd changer. Also - if you go to an independent (or dealer) and they activate the option - you will need to close the doors and lock/unlock the car to have the CDR-23 "restart" after the option is set. My independent set the option and could not figure out why the MR12volt did not produce sound - they had me come into the shop - I told them to close doors, lock/unlock the car - and sound.

For those that don't have a compatible system to make the "Mr.12BVolt" BlueTooth system work, I recommend a simple Bluetooth FM transmitter.
It will tune to an unused FM frequency and give you decent sound for your Streaming music and even handle hands-free phone calls while charging your phone.
Just for $30. I was a little apprehensive about it, but because I liked the CDR-220 in my 996, I chose to keep it simple and the sound quality was surprisingly impressive.

Mine had one of those installed it was awful, cheap and cheerful i suppose... also i couldn't take phone calls or make phonecalls like you can on the rennkit.
