Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any advice, hints, tips on removing the door panel - I have a very annoying rattle !! Do you have to de-activate the airbags in the doors to remove, any special tools or is it best to leave alone.

POST 2Original post

Best source of info for this sort of stuff is Loren on www.renntech.org cheers

POST 3Original post

The workshop manual says to disconnect the battery, but if you do this make sure you know the radio code for when you reconnect. If you disconnect the airbag, and then switch on the ignition, you will get an airbag fault, which will need resetting with a PST2. It is a fairly straightforward procedure to remove the door panels. I have done it myself, but mine doesn't have side airbags. If you like I could extract the pages from the manual in pdf format and email them to you. email me via my profile page if you would like me to do this.

POST 4Original post

It is very easy to remove panels. When you do you will find the air bags bolted to the door itself. Do not remove it - there is no need. As for the rattle - good luck. My 996 C4 '98 had the rattle and I did at last stop it. There are a number of wires and bits that rattle in there. BTW the new one doesn't rattle yet!
