I have and use AAA for travel discounts, but for roadside assistance I submit receipts to my auto insurance and get 100% reimbursement.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My GoodSam Platinum+ for $150/year allows towing to a distance of 100 miles to any location I want.
Most roadside allows for a max limit of $75 which basically amounts to at most 5 miles.
This pays for itself after the first use.
My standard auto insurance will tow my vehicle up to $75. My RV auto insurance will tow to a shop of their choice that is able and willing. This extra roadside will tow any vehicle up to 100 miles of my choosing.
Recently I was a passenger in a minivan that broke down. I called and got it towed home. We fixed the car the next day. Cheaper
Make sure the definition of "tow" in your policy equates to a flat bed

I used to have AAA but honest I have let it lapse over years. I use my insurance and also Amex offers as part of Gold card or higher. Used that when battery died and worked out fine, flatbed and all plus included in yearly card fee.
Cross Country Motor Club does roadside assistance for several European manufacturers. 100 miles of towing for $85/yr for all your cars. Link:

Auto Club's Premium roadside service will tow 200 miles IIRC. I quit them when they wouldn't tow my 28ft. enclosed trailer even though I had Preimum and their RV coverage.
Does Sam's Club offer trailer towing coverage with their service?
When it comes to roadside assistance, reliability is key, and that's where the best shine. They're like your guardian angels on the road, offering swift help whenever you're in trouble. With their quick response times and expert assistance, they turn a stressful situation into a manageable one. It's reassuring to know that the best roadside assistance is just a call away, ready to lend a hand whenever you need it most.

AAA is pretty strong in the Northeast, but in the South and especially Florida, you'll wait hours for a response. I have and use AAA for travel discounts, but for roadside assistance I submit receipts to my auto insurance and get 100% reimbursement. /X3
Adding towing to your auto insurance is always the cheapest option. I have AAA Premium for its one time annual 200 mile tow if I have a breakdown since I drive to and from the track. Many, many variable in response time.
I've had AAA for 20+ years but have never needed towing or roadside assistance (knock on wood) so I can't speak to response time around here. I use them for their vehicle registration services. Not having to deal with the unwashed masses at the DMV makes it worth the $59.00 to me. If I ever have to use their towing and/or roadside service, I might change my tune.
I live in a highly populated area and Ive had to use AAAs towing service multiple times. My biggest complaint is that I usually had to wait around two hours for the tow truck to
arrive
after placing a call. It really ruins the rest of your day.
Im guessing the extended delay is a result of multiple things: lots of slow-moving traffic due to a highly populated area, lots of people requesting tow-service, but not enough tow-drivers.
The wait didnt used to be this bad ten years ago, so I wonder whats changed.
Oh yeah, then theres this: the AAA member/cardholder must be present for the tow. You cant put in a request and have your little brother wait in your place (with your card!) while you find alternative means to make an important meeting. Theyll refuse to tow your car when they arrive two hours later.
