Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

for you guys out there with hardtops that had to have it painted to match your car... how much did it cost to have it done? trying to figure out a fair price to get a top painted don't want to get ripped off...

POST 2Original post

I'm sorry I can't answer from experience - I was lucky to find one that matched my car. In my "Miata days" I had a Classic Red top painted Montego Blue for $165. I did not have them remove and replace the rear window. I imagine that painting a Boxster top would be a similar proposition. A first class job probably requires window removal which introduces a risk that the rear window will be broken. (The shop will probably tell you that that they won't be responsible for breakage.) You will also probably need a new weather strip. Given the price for Porsche parts relative to Miata parts, I imagine the potential cost could rise above $600 fairly quickly.

POST 3Original post

I was lucky enough to find mine in ocean blue, but I have called around to get quotes on the cost of repainted due to some deep scratches from the previous owner. I got quoted in the range of $350-450, including disassembly.

POST 4Original post

I got mine painted by a friend of my Dad for $300. He had just sold his body shop. I'm not happy with the job he did though. After one winter I've got a bunch of spots where the black is coming off and you can see the red underneath. Quotes I got were for about $600-700.
