Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

So I checked my oil yesterday and was two bars down from top arrow mark with a warm engine, and one above the minimum threshold. According to the manual each mark equates to .4 liters. So I put added a quart of 10w40, slightly less than a full liter. Checked the oil again, and now it reads above the top hash mark. Technically I suppose asked for this because I was should have added .8 liters, and I added .94, but this is a bit frustrating. Did Porsche build in any margin for error here or am I screwed and now have to take it in to get the oil drained?

NPG - that's not overfilled by very much. I don' think you need to drain any out of it... Best thing you can do is to take it out for a nice long drive on a warm day which will evaporate some of the non-oil moisture out of the oil... try not to corner too hard while it's a little overfilled like this - it could get oil up into your intake and cause some rather disconcerting smoke out the back. brad
