Suggestion
Tubi's do sound nice - but have usually done so by the use of a rather restrictive chamber muffler.

I ordered the cats, headers and ECU upgrade from 9ff, but decided on using a Tubi exhaust system instead of 9ff's.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

no experience with FABSpeed. compared Tubi vs. BB...selected Tubi due to sound and performace heritage. also, the BB birps when gas pedal is released on the demo vehicle. you can also hearthe birbingon the BB web site.
if you can wait awhile, wait for milltek...
I would choose neither. I would choose either Miltek or RSR911's complete exhaust system. Miltek by far has the best sound of those I've heard due to their unique design. Tubi isn't bad but I've not seen any dyno charts for it, and Fabspeed doesn't fit well and hangs down too low IMHO and needs some re-work for the
Cayman
. There is a complete Miltek article coming shortly as the system should be enroute to me as I type.
Great info, I sent an e-mail to FABSpeed inquiring about how low the exhaust hangs down, they said absolutly not, it is the same as the stock, however from what I see it on the website it looks to low. TUBI is about 2 times the cost as any other I have inquired about but everyone states the sound is GREAT! Does $3200.00 sound about right?
I ordered the cats, headers and ECU upgrade from 9ff, but decided on using a Tubi exhaust system instead of 9ff's. My Tubi system was $2,200 installed. I love the way it sounds and would recommend it to anyone looking for an aftermarket exhaust system. An exhaust system isn't really the way to go if you're looking for hp gains, so focus on the sound and quality of the exhaust. Ask anyone who knows, and they will tell you Tubi ranks at or near the top in terms of both. Good luck.
3rdclas
- $3200 ia way too high. Mine was $2200 at Boardwalk Porshe in Dallas installed...peace of mind when a dealer install after market stuff...Boardwalk has a great reputation in TX.
Thanks for the input, The local Authroized TUBI installer, (Champion Motor sports) here in So. Cal. wants $3,200.00 plus install of $300.00. I think I might shop around a little more...
You're better off doing all of it at once to save on installation costs if you're not doing it yourself. Although headers will yield more HP you will still need to do the rest to open it up.
Tubi's do sound nice - but have usually done so by the use of a rather restrictive chamber muffler. Classic case of show vs go (but no mo flo).
$3200 is a BIT rich....
ECB
- aren't you a 9ff dealer? i would have taken your advice seriously...until i saw your plug for your business on another thread...uncool.
i am sure the Tubi Style dealer 'Champion Porsche Motor Sport' would say the same about 9ff.
mt647,
Yes ECB is a 9ff dealer and is going to be partial to 9ff's products, however, I would have to concur that some Tubis I have seen tested on other Porsches added no HP gain and cost a bundle. Since I haven't seen a dyno for the Tubi on the
Cayman
I don't know.
K-Man S, Any word on the Milltech exhaust yet. I'm going to wait for your input before I move forward.../fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/drivingskid.gif
hey MT647, I was not giving you my advise per se, but rather I was simply stating a well known fact in the
porsche
tuning world. Tubi style is a ferrari brand.
They are expensive, simply based on the posters comment that the exhaust cost $3200. I would certainly qualify $3200 as expensive. the exhaust typically lose power or at least arent the most powerful systems for
porsche
. That said, i almost bought a Tubi'd NSX! It sounded JUST like a ferrari - until i woke up and bought the ferrari instead.
They do have a very melodic and great sound. You need to understand how exhausts work. In short, the tubi has a bunch of restrictive elements in the muffler that account for the "tubi style".
There is nothing uncool about promoting and marketing 9ff. There is no opinion there. Styling is subjective, sound is subjective. However, power is nothing but cold hard objectivity. Fact. 9ff has produced the fastest, most powerful porsches in the world (before the veyron, they produced the fastest road legal car). Fact. Their
Cayman
Cr42 is faster than all the other tuned
cayman
. Fact the Cr42 ran circles around a 997GT3 at a recent shoot out.
See, you are confusing obective with subjective.
I am simply providing educated enthusiasts with the means and tools to make their own decisions regarding their enhancement projects. if you have any questions regarding 9ff products, please dont hesitate to give us a call as we are the North American distributer.
Thanks.
p.s. I will make a 9ff/Eurocar avatar so that nobody will become confused. I incorrectly thought that ECB meant eurocar boutique...sorry.

ECB,
In mt647's defense it probably wouldn't be a bad idea for you to edit your profile to include a signature line about being the 9ff distributor for North America, etc. That way people would see it up front and we would avoid any upleasantries in the future.
3rdClas,
I believe the Miltek system will be in my hands early
next
week judging from estimated shipping times.
I'm also thinking about adding an aftermarket exhaust...however, with
PSE
for CS available in the
next
few months, I think I am going to wait...I'm very anxious to hear your review of Miltek K-Man...please keep us up to date on that...I don't want to hijack the thread, but would welcome a few comments on
PSE
in past models...how good is it? better performance, or is it just sound oriented? For me, I think I'd be more interested in a sound upgrade...what's the best system for that?
Can anyone with an aftermarket exhaust take a sound clip? I'm not familiar with most of these exhaust vendors (always been more of a muscle car guy) and there isn't anywhere that I can hear them in person.
I posted a sound clip to youtube.com, but the quality is terrible. Try this clip, I think it sounds pretty good:
http://www.pfafftuning.com/cayman_01.mp3
Oaktown OG, Is that TUBI System?
SMOUNIC, I'm not a fan of FABSpeed, however you can hear a sound clip at
www.fabspeed.com
on the cayman S. I would wait to purchase anything until K-Man S gets his Miltech and reports back to us...
Sounds really nice, wish they would havehad just a tad longer clip. Now all we need to do is hear the
Miltech
and we should be able to make a good choice. Has anyone seen a dyno on the
TUBI
for HP increases ???
I just had the Fabspeed exhaust put on my car last week. Unfortunately the car is still in the shop waiting for some more pats to come in but i did get to go down and check it out. Look awesome and sounds pretty nice when i rev it. Haven't got to drive it yet (again waiting for parts) but i can imagine its going to sounds even better under hi revs. As far as looks go it brings so much more to the back of the car, not that it doesn't already have a beautiful backside but with the polished stainless steel mufflers and the new Fabspeed tips its really nice. Also when you look at the rear rim you can see the stainless tubing threw the rim. Real nice!!
good luck with whatever you decide.
