Had many fun weekends with the car, and that joy grew even more after Jake and his team at FSI did their magic and turned my stock engine into an FSI, 4.0 Street Performer (installed by Callas Rennsport).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, it's time to part company with my C4S. I've enjoyed it immensely when I first purchased it. Had many fun weekends with the car, and that joy grew even more after Jake and his team at FSI did their magic and turned my stock engine into an FSI, 4.0 Street Performer (installed by Callas Rennsport). If you were to look up the word "smooth" in the dictionary, there's a good chance there'd be a pic of this engine there. The new Bilstein B4s I had installed a few months ago brought a new level of quiet and comfort to the car and added to the enjoyment. New starter, Y cable and battery last year and it's pretty much bulletproof. I have a new Porsche factory windshield going in next week due to the molding of the current non-porsche windshield coming loose. I put approx 14k miles on the new engine and it just keeps getting better and better and will be good for at least another 100k miles most likely. I've gone back n forth the last few months as to whether I should sell it or keep it, but ultimately having two cars plus a motorcycle feels superfluous. I've also purchased a condo in Spain, and would like to add to that with a second home there in the next couple years, with the end goal being to move there permanently in a few years with a little passive income (I'm 51 now and looking forward to retiring at a reasonable age). Anyway, I know I will miss it but I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Wanted to ask the group here where I should list it. I did Bring a Trailer with my last Pcar (a 99 aero) and it did pretty well. Not gonna go the Facebook/CL route as who has the time to deal with the inevitable morons that'll bring outta the woodwork. Open to any and all ideas. Cheers, BH.

Bat for sure. Its going to be a rare car given the engine and upgrades.

POST 3Original post

@Bash Hat I feel ya on the goals of retiring at a reasonable age. Investing in the real estate seems logical, especially since it moves you toward the goal. Good luck with the sale. Im sure it will do well on BAT. You could also look at Cars n Bids. It is, essentially, a competitor to BAT.

How many miles? Interior stock and good condition?

95k miles. (FSI engine installed at 82k, voluntarily). Full leather in very good condition as it's a C4S See post #76 https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/1358922-thoughts-on-selling-6.html#post18955845

Do you have a price in mind? Always liked your car/build.

Not really really. Any thoughts on what would be a ballpark?

not sure. I imagine its close to 996 Turbo $? Im looking at Turbos AWD. Daughter in AZ. Im in MN. Road trip usually through CO. AWD gives me more options with weather conditions.😎 GLWS.

Thanks. That would br a kick a$$ road trip.

POST 13Original post

Same. I think the right spec with an FSI motor will get me off the sidelines and into a 996.

Me too! Gotta be honest tho. This ain't some low mileage trailer queen. I drove it every weekend and had a ton of fun doing so. It's got a few chips and scratches. Wont be one of those BaT listimgs that has 75 paint meter reading pics. These (and all) cars IMO should be driven. That's their sole intended purpose. I've maintained it well, looked after it, but if it got a scratch or a door ding, it didn't really phase me.

same, mine is a daily driver. I built the 4.0, did a tip to 6 transmission swap and recently repainted, all in my garage. Its filthy right now but I love it. I enjoy working on them but I think Im in need of a new project!!

What part of Spain? Have you thought of shipping it there, waiting for my wife to retire and my dual citizenship and head for Northern Spain and shipping the car. the road in N Spain are in excellent shape and fun.

Congrats. We bought a place in the Costa Blanca, between Vslencia and Alicante, as a vacation rental. We'd like to live in Valencia so we won't need a car.

Won't need a car, maybe. But I do wonder how long it will take for one to start calling your name in Spanish... The fact is that you have a very special car in a 996 Carrera 4S with FSI engine. Maybe someday it's true value will be appreciated, but that day hasn't come yet. IMO you would have to pay at least $10K more than you'll get for it to replace it with something even close to it. All of which starts to make the value proposition of shipping it to Spain look pretty good. Not to mention the roads there. I've only experienced them vicariously through the several gazillion new car introductions done in Spain, but, mmmmm.

POST 19Original post

I agree with wdb that you own a very special car, love the area your headed too, especially Benidorm. I think it would be great to have the car for trips to get away from all the expats that crowd the area LOL.

We bought in the small town of Guardamar Del Segura. We may look at another place in Finestrat, close to Benidorm but quieter. I'm originally from Scotland so i know exactly what you mean re the rowdy expats!
